[IRC099]

Motorcitysoul feat. Onejiru [Jerome Sydenham / Dennis Ferrer] : Mbali / Jero : Ibadan : 12"

Mbali Remixes: Jerome Sydenham starts off the year with a fabulous remix of the underground classic “Mbali” by Motorcitysoul. Sydenham makes an ambitious attempt to redefine the phrase “Happy and uplifting House”. This, however, is not a gospel track. But instead is filled with lush cords and steady grooves. This is the kind of tune that really gets the party started. Jero Extended Versions: The monster duo of Dennis Ferrer and Jerome Sydenham strike again at the core of house music. In this adrenaline fuel house epic you have Sydenham on the beats and Ferrer on the vocal chants. This one will be hard to resist even for Techno heads. [3/15/2010]

[MRMR001]

Lewie Day [Lee Curtiss] : That's the Thing : Murmur-? : 12"

Two years ago murmur set out with a mission to make their mark on the underground house and techno landscape. Along the way they guided the journeys of a bright array of artists, heralding early releases from Nick Curly, MIc Newman, Nima Gorji, Bearweasel, Tom Demac, Craig Torrance and labelhead Geddes, and have forged their own unique musical stamp. Happy with that achievement they are now expanding and launching a new arm - murmur-? – creating a concept not to direct from but to compliment its forebearer, murmur-? is a chance to encounter a new shade of music, not just about floorfillers, but exploring music with soul, music with a different tempo and style, often still material you could play in a club but that can also be played and enjoyed anywhere. [CCS041]

Various Artists : Snuggle Slap, Ten Years Circus Company : Circus Company : 2x12"

Celebrating 10 years of refining its highly personal vision of underground electronic dance music, Paris' Circus Company presents Snuggle & Slap, a two-CD compilation balancing contemporary house music with more idiosyncratic submissions. It's more than just a label sampler: many of the artists included here appear two or even three times, having been afforded the opportunity to think beyond the dancefloor and experiment with new sounds, unusual styles, and secret passions. Hushed funk, feathery beats and spongy textures characterize Snuggle, while Slap snaps to attention with more insistent grooves straight to the heart of the label's sweet spot: sumptuously detailed, swoonworthily deep house. Whether you've been following Circus Company for the whole decade or are only just now turning on, this collection of new, exclusive material is an essential portrait of one of the most dynamic labels around. Who's on board of the 2x12? version? There are veterans from the label's very earliest days, including Ark and Sety. There are folks that have joined in recent years, enlarging the label's sound along with its roster: dOP, Guillaume & the Coutu Dumonts, Audio Werner, Oleg Poliakov. There are also a few familiar faces hidden behind name that might be new to you: Destination Danger is the pairing of Oleg Poliakov and Guillaume & the Coutu Dumonts, and together they come up with one of the album's most driving and hypnotic tracks. Circus Company's Mathias Duchemin (aka Sety) sums up the project: "The concept of this compilation with to present our artists' hidden sides. On the Slap side you'll get their usual, dancefloor-oriented style. On the Snuggle side you'll have the chance to discover their more 'home listening' directions". This 2x12? version only provide the Slap side of the compilation. Accordingly, these tracks go far deeper than the bongos-and-keyboards model of so much current "deep house." [11/2/2009]

[MAU5024]

Moguai  : Nice / Blau : Mau5Trap : 12"

not content with 2 beatport top 10 eps, moguai unleashes an outstanding ep from his forthcoming artist album on deadmau5’s impeccable imprint, mau5trap. nyce and blau are finally here. epic stabbing chords, brooding pads, shrieking leads and deep, warping bass all add up to make nyce a properly euphoric main room anthem, if this fails to raises the hands, then little else will. blau takes things a bit deeper and techier, with a buzzing side chained bassline, twinkling lead line, warm pads, its guaranteed to ignite dance floors, left, right and centre. Boys Noize [Tiga /James Ruskin /Untold] : Transmission Remixes Pt  2 : Boys Noize : 12"

Boys Noize new album” POWER” has been released in October 2009 and already got massiv support across all genres. “Transmission” is the 2nd Single out of “POWER", it´s static unheared synth sound, it s robot voices (YOU ARE NEUTRON BECAUSE LAZOR TRANSMISSION) on a breakbeat gives you a feeling of Josh Winks early hit “Higher States of Conciousness” going to bed with Kraftwerks sound aesthetic and Robots on a 2010 afterparty. This release includes a “dream package” of remixes and also a video to follow shortly after. Well respected electronica producer Mr. OIZO (Ed Banger) does what he can do best by twisting the original to a serious moment of a firecracker, TIGA takes the main idea of the original song and turns it into the perfect 4/4 banger, BNR´s super talented DJEDJOTROIC delivers 2 remixes: 1 Acid drivin´ shot and a “big room” techno dub for friends of Len Faki or Dubfire. With the UNTOLD remix (Hessle Audio) you probably get Dubstep´s most interesting producer bringing an epic Dubstep version. Last but not least you get a real deep techno remix by the techno master himself: JAMES RUSKIN (Bluefin Rec). Resident DJ of Berlin´s Berghain delivers a top of his class techno mix.ll remixes will be split up in two parts of a Vinyl and digital version including a new Club Version Edit by Boys Noize himself. What can we say, this is it, this is POWER :) [3/1/2010]

Kirk Degiorgio : Membrane : Planet E : 12"

1990 was the decade Kirk established healthy roots with the network trio of Detroit producers: Derrick May, Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson. In preparation for Kirks most influential journey to the US, he collaborated demos with Ed Handley and Andy Turner under the collective The Black Dog.  During his inspirational visit to Detroit Kirk took noticed of the affordable studio setups he observed at Transmat, Metroplex and KMS. Consequently Kirk sold his entire record collection upon his return to London and invested in an Atari, Akai S950 sampler, a broken TB303 and a Roland R8 drum machine. To complete his Detroit inspired studio the last pieces were actually loaned from Derrick - including a Kawai K3 and the infamous DX100.  Fast forwarding to the more present time, Kirk has released purist techno EP's for an EMI subsidiary 'New Religion'. For the same label he has collaborated with Dan Keeling under the name 'Critical Phase' and together with Alex Bond has also co-ordinated the joint ART-New Religion compilation 'The Electric Institute'. On this compilation Kirk shocked purists with the techno breaks track 'Whatever Happened To the Cosmic Kid' which was co-written with Dan Keeling and Chris Martin of Coldplay.  Kirk’s revolutionary pulse has been recognized and is credited with being the first known professional DJ to use Ableton Live alongside vinyl for his DJ sets. A tour of Japan 2002 saw him use Live exclusively which he has now done ever since in venues worldwide. Kirk paved the way for the current popularity of laptop DJing [3/15/2010]

[GDM012]

Emerson Todd vs Tim Green : Make Me : Get Digital : 12"

The United Kingdom and New Zealand unite on the latest Get Digital release, as Tim Green and Emerson Todd team up for two tracks of trendy Tech-House. Both of these guys had a splendid 2009. Tim with his releases on Dirtybird and Emerson providing a contribution to Get Digital, at the end of last Summer. Their initial collaboration came in the form of 'Exercise', which popped up on a compilation from Sven Väth's admired Cocoon label. 'Make Me' is driven by crisp and tight beats that one would expect from these two producers, before tumbling into a 1920's speakeasy jazz drum solo. A flurry of vocals shoo off the drummers as the beats takeover again with an intensified energy. After all that dancing, you will surely need some foot treatment. That is where 'Nail Clipper' takes over. A sonic pedicure, to easy your tired toes? Not quite. [3/15/2010]

Peter Horrevorts / Chopstick & Johnjon : NIP Split: 01 : Kanzleramt : 12"

For their first release in 2010, the infamous label Kanzleramt will team up with Suol for this split release called"Nip Split:: 01". As the "01" might already tell you, this isn't a one time thang ... this is just the beginning of a looooong relationship to come! On the Kanzleramt side we find Suol label owners Chopstick & johnjon (true, it's starting to get a bit complicated here) with the track "Infidelity" that is already a sure shot in the Recordbags of the Suol and Kanzleramt family. "Infidelity" gives us a sneak peak on the guys' background, with its sample based theme and the ruff programing. There might have been one or two hip hop parties that the two attended in the past. Give this one a spin and the groove will show you, how much impact this lovely house tracker gonna have on the floors. On the flip side Mr. Kanzleramt himself aka Heiko borrowed us his artist Peter Horrevorts for a dancefloor monster!.. [3/15/2010]

[SYST064]

Dmitri Andreas [Nima Gorji / Santos Guardingo] : Snickerz : Systematic : 12"

As record number #64 Systematic brings you Dimitri's already second release for the label, called “Snickerz”. Taking us on an emotional journey once more, we are treated to an international collection of sounds and influences. We are transported deep into the wild by the raw, earth-moving drums and bird calls. Emotional strings, make way for the beautifully simple but wonderfully effective flute line as the drama builds once more. Simply stunning and rare these days! First up on the remixes is the Ibiza residing Dane, Nima Gorji. Retaining the drive and power of the original, Nima creates an equally emotive and mystical reworking. Italian tribal beat specialist and Timo Mass co-producer Santos adds an extra helping of power to the drums. A darker, techier, yet still percussive edge, is bolstered by a host of tooling sounds and effects, to deliver a third impressive option on the original. In the box of: Laurent Garnier, Richie Hawtin, Martin Landsky, Ben Watt, Christian Smith, Gorge, Technasia, Gregor Tresher,Arnaud Le Texier, Stephan Bodzin, André Galuzzi and many more [3/15/2010]

Le Flaneur - This vinyl extract contains the original version of the track - a melancholic Detroit-Pop pearl with the lovely voice of Miss Kittin on top plus two remixes. The first remix is the mindbending Kollektiv Turmstrasse Wald und WiesenReh Mix that shows in an impressive manner that the two rising Northern Stars developed their trademark sound to even a higher and more grown-up level. With their “Stumme Apotheker Rmx” the infamous Duo Christian Rottler & Deer give a lyrical answer to the original, its starts as a rather acoustic guitar tune and slowly morphs into a trippy and charming debaucher. Egbert : Vreugdevuur : Cocoon : 12"

Egbert Van Der Gugten is currently one of the most promising talents within the field of electronic dance music. Jeroen Verheji alias Secret Cinema, whose attention was drawn to Egbert via myspace.com, invited him on the spur of the moment to his parties and his studio last year, and thus smoothed the way for Egbert to the Dutch Techno scene. After his debut on Lo-Fi Stereo, it was mainly his "Vlammen-EP" on Michel de Hey's EC Records in February 2009, which went down a bomb on the dancefloors and belonged to the basic vinyl inventory of Sven Väth's record case in this season. With "Vreugdevuur", Egbert still tops this and provides us with a musical exclamation mark that sets standards in harmonic but consequently demanding TechHouse somewhere in between Dub, Progressive House and Detroit. The subsonic bass around the central organ motif will be your companion in between dreaming and dancing in this late autumn, promised! A different sound approach is taken by the flipside "Groots Uitpakken" with its tremendously energetic wall of sound, a nocturnal trip through slow-motion vocal tatters, whose string breaks provide it with an irresistible pull. Tiefschwarz : Fall In, Keep On : Cocoon : 12"

For more than 12 years, the Stuttgart-born brothers Alexander and Sebastian Schwarz belong to the most respectable protagonists of an innovative understanding of House music. With their fondness for deep but also demanding House in between tradition and modernity, both look back on a merely endless list of co-operations and releases, where collaborations with Masters at Work, Underworld, Missy Elliott, Madonna and Depeche Mode are just the best-known top of the iceberg. After their contribution to the “Cocoon Morphs Tokyo"-EPs in 2008 ("Liquid Cherries") Tiefschwarz now rely on a percussive reduction with piercing handclaps and strong vocal samples ("Fall In"). A true pearl of a track is “Keep on", which initially leaves the leading role to the bass, combining it with delayed vocals and surprising noise effects before introducing some organic and jazzy elements in the form of organ and xylophone sounds. Deep and claustrophobic darkness - that’s how Tiefschwarz are setting the first standard for modern House sound in 2010. [11/30/2009]

[RHTX1LP]

Virgo : Virgo : Rush Hour : 2x12"

classic alert! the first official repress and this time on 2LP. A dream come true! full info soon...  This is a very special record. Our favourite contender for best house album ever made. This album does not have one filler, all tracks are essential pieces of house music. Of course, it includes the more known ‘Do You Know Who You Are’ and ‘In a Vision’. But check out ‘Ride’ and ‘School Hall’ for instance. Originally released under M.E., and much overlooked. This album will be released with new artwork and re-mastered tracks. The vinyl will be available as 2x12”, 2 tracks per side loud pressing and also as limited CD and digital. Virgo are Merwyn Sanders and Eric Lewis. They also recorded as Ace & The Sandman and M.E. and shouldn’t be confused with the other Virgo of Vince Lawrence and co. [3/8/2010]

Motorcitysoul [Sascha Dive / Jay Shepheard / Matthias Vogt / C-Rock] : Cipher Remixes : Stir 15 : 12"

The motor, the city and soul do return to one of the longest running deephouse labels on the planet. with almost 40 releases and still kicking and keeping vinyl alive this release is no exception. matthias vogt & c-rock join forces again and the two present a heavy loaded package of deep house. with sascha dive and jay shepheard we got two men of the moment to remix “cipher” and all four mixes turned out to be just amazing. sascha dive’s remix is built on driving beats and develops big time floor potential. vogt re-arranged cipher into an epic musical master piece that incorporates his piano skills. stir15 label head c-rock strips the whole thing down to a deep and tripped out dub and jay shepheard follows his last releases and deivers a stellar deep tech-house groover. a box full of house in different blends. after satoshi tomiee’s “back to basics” this is another amazing release that already made big waves housefloors around the globe. [STORY03]

Story : Story #3 : Story : 12"

Story continues its immaculate run of bottom-heavy deephouse with 4 special treats from this british underground figure that make an earthquake like introduction to the scene with 3 anonymous 12″es only that are already sought after and destined to become collectors items. An acid house veteran that followed the whole UK rave progression to harder techno, he harks back to his early influences with his productions by building his dense, jacking slo-mo house grooves around hip-hop and soul samples. Cuts like “The rub” or “DH13″ and take their time to slowly sneak-up on you casting a bigger and bigger shadow until you are totally immersed in the smoky, dub-filled atmosphere that has a similar feel to the psychedelic soul of Motown’s Norman Whitfild or the RZAs mystic hip-hop soundscapes. “Whobadu” trades for 4/4 pattern for a looser, handclapping 80’s funk groove that should cross-over into the box of every more discerned Hip-Hop DJ, while “Olufeme” is a stripped down, Fela style Afro groover with mighty dubbed-out horn loops. four tracks that will keep all you dancers, booty shakers and headnodders happy for a long time! [OVM-204]

Shlomi Aber : Slow Dancer / Groove Mechanism : Ovum : 12"

Recognized as one of the main techno pioneers and influential artists of the recent time, Shlomi has the kind of impact usually reserved for inbound meteors, the reason for which is buried in a ground swell of genre-defying appreciation and support. A comment taken from a recent “Radio 1” interview provides a probable reason as to why his productions are hitting such a broad mark, “No matter if it’s hard or soft, it just needs to touch your mind, body and soul at the same time. That's what I call a ‘Good Record’.” On the A side, Slow Dancer is Shlomi at his best. This is a modern classic as Shlomi creates an incredible groove around this mesmerizing keyboard line and shuffling beats.  The track goes through peeks and valleys but still maintains an incredible energy although retaining a level of deepness. As the track the swirls and grooves the energy continues to build. His approach is minimal, but the result is maximal.  On the B side, Groove Mechanism is a driving main floor monster. Built around a rolling bass line and driving percussion, Groove Mechanism will rock any dance floor. Both tracks should be in any DJ sets for a long time to come. [OFFSPIN001]

V/A : Collected Works 1 : OFF : 12"

While OFF itself will be slightly repositioned as an outlet for full artist ep's with timeless and deep house music, often by names already wellknown on the scene, OFF SPIN will be mainly used for Various Artist EP's, but also for full ep's by OFF newcomers. For OFF SPIN 001 we made a special effort to collect some really outstanding tracks by some of our favourite artists, some of them already around for a long time, some of them more fresh to the scene, but all very talented. French underground legends Chris Carrier & Phil Weeks team up to deliver a deep discoinfected house groover in their unique style, classy, timeless and with some of the sweetest samples you might have heard in a while. Ukrainian friends Drive D & Goshva & WestBoy have made themselves a name with some outstanding releases on labels like Diynamic or their own Mulen imprint and deliver a modern house groover with some killer sample breaks. OFF labelowner Andre Crom and Martin Dawson (who with Giles Smith also forms 2 Armadillos) present the first track of their new collaboration, a rough and driving houstool with some really freaky vocal samples, perfect for the later hours... And Cecille's Jacuzzi Boys team up with Bastian Schuster to deliver a really cool deephouse-hitech-groover with a unique and minimalistic fresh sound design [3/8/2010]

Josh Wink [DJ Sneak/Pascal Feos & D. Diggler Rmxs] : Jus Right / Hypnoslave : Ovum : 12"

On the 4th vinyl from the remix package of When A Banana Was Just A Banana Remixed and Pealed, we have something special as these are two remixes that we kept exclusive for the fans of buying the singles.  On the A side we have turned things over to the legendary DJ Sneak with his reworking of “Jus Right”. When people heard the original of this track a lot of people couldn’t believe it was Josh.  He debuted it at the WMC 2008 as the sun was coming up at the AM Only party. The buzz started there. When we asked Sneak what track did he want to remix, this was the one that he wanted to rock. Sneak has taken the slow deep builder and turned into a chunky, funky, boomin in your system beast.  This is classic DJ Sneak.  On the B side Pascal Feos has partnered up with Dirk Diggler to put their interpretation of “Hypnoslave”.  Another interesting twist on this track and they have added gorgeous swirling pads that take the track in a completely different direction. The track deepens out, but it is still always driving.  This is an incredible 9 minute journey that takes many turns along the way. A truly incredible way to complete this special twelve inch. [KARAT041]

Eddie C : Wonderful Dub EP : Karat : 12"

WARNING!!! This ep contains four tastefull tracks, kinda house, with a really personal approach. "It's not a fantasy" and "Dream reality" are in a disco-funk house vein, really elegant, well built and smoothly arranged. Some beautiful house music to entertain a dancin' crowd or just to make you feel good! "Wonderful dub" is in some way the most unusual track, compare to the average house releases, beacause it is some house stuff, but at 80bpm and with a crazy intelligent construction; really a masterpiece; same atypical form for "High on love", wich can be part of a Jay dee hip hop - r'n'b release! Really beautiful and charming atmosphere. You'll hear about this Eddie C in the next times, he already released things on Jisco music, Hardwax productions (7''); he's a brilliant dj, mixing new school - old school stuff as there's no difference in between them (it's true) .We think we got here one real original creation, more than good! [ARCHLP019]

Stefny : Echinodon : Archipel : 12"

The most talented Stefny gives us her debut solo Archipel 12", "Echinodon", featuring remixes from Bruno Pronsato, Isomer Transition and a newly birthed project of Somfay's called Flourish. This package, by all means, is set to infinitely clutch and grab ahold of many a mind. "Echninodon" is wonderfully fanged, each maxilla locked and loaded, ready to capture the entirety of the mind's resources and set it into intricate motion. It possesses a hypnotic prowess of such a level which makes it difficult if not impossible to shift one's attention away from it. If lucid dreaming is possible while one is awake, waking dreams within wakefulness, this is sure to cause just such a condition to arise, leading to deliciously formed headscapes where every scene is endlessly novel and created out of the finest of mental interior brushstrokes and every individual shade and colour is endless in its depth.   "Silofai" is a part of this continuum, this waking dream during wakefulness, and it has just as many details to show for it. It's scenery is subtly tinted with just the right balance of funkiness and steamed, warm, darkness while its patterning winds around itself like a fractal, coiling, technicolour serpent.   Isomer Transition's remix of Echninodon takes the original and strips it down to a darkly tinted scape of low Hz funk which is set to broadcast its seed throughout plenty a cortex where its staccato, anodyne, roots will infinitely branch off.   Bruno Pronsato brings us two versions of Echinodon, one exclusively digital and one for the vinyl. His versions wrap the original in spirals of darkly jazzed percussion with mind encompassing, breathy yet heavy, girth, and spread open the doors of hypnosis as far as they can open until they have no other option but to unhinge, to detach and enter the labyrinth.   Flourish takes Echinodon and modifies it into a downtuned chamber of spitting ophidian darkness where original elements are folded in on themselves and inflated into new forms while at the core a ghost melody is brought to the surface and set in silver machine gunned percussion, a ribbed monolith of  sound [3/8/2010]

Anonym [D'Julz] : Lov is Easy EP : Bass Culture : 12"

D'Julz's Bass Culture Records has undoubtedly been one of the major highlights of 2009. In just four releases the French label has set the bar for all others in terms of quality and 2010 is looking to be a groundbreaking year for them. The second release of '10 showcases the label head keeping it Detroit, and a bit in the grey area - with the Lov is Easy release by Anonym. Anonym; The one who is anonymous. With releases on Anonymous Release, Archipel, Bloop, Pariter, FoF, and Sushitech. Anonym has also contributed the scoring soundtrack to works on display at the Museum of Moving Images in NYC for PBFB. According to the man himself, "I am Anonym the one who is Anonymous. I am anonymous because in any popular music form prone to be ransacked by the egos of its participants, a state of grace is best achieved and sustained by pursuing a life of anonymity. That preserves its creators from the warping stare of the media and its public in the process." His sound is tempered with grace & style, with a feeling of - "Detroit is my heart and often my songs sing her praises. I have known her all my life." [3/8/2010]

[CADENZA46]

Mendo : Encantos Ep : Cadenza : 12"

Mendo’s “Everybody I Got Him (2009 Mix)” and “1992″ (Cadenza 41) helped set the tone of 2009: pumping, percussive old-school attitude with new-school finesse. And no wonder: the Spanish-born, Swiss-based producer has learned a thing or two about rocking crowds in the 15 years since George Morel first gave the budding DJ a leg up. Now he leads us into 2010 with two more tracks sure to be dominating dance floors from now until the closing of the Ibiza season. “Aventuras” is, if anything, even more full-on and immediate than “Everybody.” Pushed ahead by a slippery, shaker-heavy percussive groove and a booming, subbass throb, it’s a no-nonsense command to move. Celebratory, call-and-response cheers draw the dancers together, and African vocal loops increase the intensity level, spinning spellbinding shapes in the air as they gradually unfurl. With rat-a-tat snare fills and tricky blasts of white noise and reverb, the track is one long, extended build-up. DJs beware: anything you play next is bound to sound anticlimactic. “Madrugada,” meaning “early morning” in Spanish, accordingly dials things down a notch—but not too much! The wordless, sing-song chants are perfect for those postdawn hours, their phased tones and elliptical loops dragging you deep into a hypnotic zone. But the groove is powerful enough to keep things moving well past mediodía, with cracking snares, shuffling hi-hats and a smattering of carefully tuned percussion leading you through seven and a half minutes of delicious, delirious tension and release. As these two certified burners prove, back-to-basics house music is alive and thriving. And while he’s been around the block a time or two, this essential double-Aside release confirms Mendo’s status as an artist on the rise. [3/8/2010]

With his “Air Conditionné EP” on Electric Rescue’s Skryptom label in 2006, he provided the scene with a true consensus hit, and further collaborations with and remixes for Oxia, Scan X, Danton Eeprom or Sébastien Léger have cemented his reputation as one of the most promising young talents in electronic dance music. His current EP for Cocoon stands for uncompromising and demanding Techno in its purest form: from the initially more sizzling sound layer in “Color” emerges after two minutes in the first break a hysterically screaming ’saw of sinus’, where you almost seem to hear the screams of the people echoing on the dancefloor. “Amore” builds up more streamline-like in the style of Steve Bug, but: don’t panic - you will also hear some really demanding breaks in this one. As a bonus for the digital version, Jeweil is invoking the bass sustainably with “Soho", and with hand claps, subsonic fanfares and post-Acid noises, all the hands go up again. [3/8/2010]

[MOOD086]

Lil Tony : Raw Trax Vol 2 : Mood Music : 12"

Lil Tony is hotter than hot. While starting to dj and produce years ago, Tony has been a staple in the Scandinavian club scene since the early 90s. An amazing dj (actually one of the favourites around the Moodmusic HQ) and a talented producer, Tony started with the FBI project with Roberto Rodriguez and Kimmo Oksanen before dropping some serious damage on Raw Trax Vol. 1 last year on Moodmusic. Caned by everyone from Luciano (he edited his own version of Semble) to dj Hell, Tonys raw grooves cut the crap and moved people when other producers had to take a leak. Hardworking, never forgetting his gentleman manners, Tony is here to stay and Raw Trax Vol. 2 is a bold new statement, and his best work to date. Solid State takes the classic Detroit influenced Drum machine vs Piano theme a step forward, a impeccable jam of 15 minutes with the beat keeping the pace, this has been roadproofed the last 6 months to good effect. The B-side Karamba is a dry, tight driven tech-workout, perfect mixtool for the deeper techno as well as housier sets. It just works well. The closing Checkpoint Charlie is a tale of “lost in Helsinki” – dark mean bass wanders around and gives space for the chuggin main line, monotonic body music at it´s best. [3/8/2010]

The first release in this jubilee year presents Berlin buddies and long term Morris Audio activists Till von Sein and Tigerskin with some fierce club tunes. Till's "sister o dissey" is a cool percussive tool with a slight disco feel, whereas Tigerskin's "polio" has this oldschool house flavour. And you know we love dis! [3/8/2010]

Minz : Positive Streamers : Ransom Note : 12"

Minz aka Michel Sanchez-Infante, is a dj, producer and live performer from The Netherlands. After producing for a few years, his productions caught the attention of Ripperton in may 2007. Ripperton released Minz' debut 'Un/mute EP' and the follow-up 'Jade EP' on his Perspectiv label. Both were well received and followed by a string of remixes on labels like Connaisseur, Suruba and 2pin, and compilation tracks for Meerestief and Perspectiv.  After taking some time out to work on his sound, Minz is getting back up to speed with releases for Suruba X and now for Ransom Note. His style is slowly shifting to a more housey and organic sound, while keeping the deepness, thoughtful composition and meticulous attention to detail. Tracks like Ganzfeld demonstrate how Minz has the ability to create outstanding productions that grow slowly on you before knocking you off your feet.  On remix duties is the illustrious Lee Jones. Hot off his brilliant ep on Cityfox, Lee blesses Ransom Note with his indelible take on electronic music. As deep as it gets and with a powerful exploration of the original, Lee's remix of Ganzfeld is stunning journey sure to set off the after party in all of us [3/8/2010]

LIMITED / COLORED VINYL - White Label from New York City is already back for the fall with two slow and heavy tracks for global dance floors on release RWL 002. Label owner Reade Truth produces “Evidence” on the a-side, a totally bangin’ hard house jam not unlike 33 1/3 queen or other Nu Groove related club classics. The nostalgic flavor is matched up with an irresistible groove that never lets go. “Evidence” is poised to be come a serious weapon for the record box. On the flip side, Reade Truth smooths it out with “Prove It (Your Love)”, a decidedly minimal and hypnotically techno journey deep into your ears. Led by a ferocious bass-line and a subtly modulating juno synth-line, the barrage of countless percussive elements and chord mutations make this one a truly mental experience. Safari Electronique return with yet another label debut. This time its the turn of David Labeij, one of the key movers and shakers of the Amsterdam House scene. Todays EP features three stunning productions. Each exudes style, beauty and maturity. Opener 'Eyey' should come with a side order of sun, sea and beautiful women, whereas 'Sumby' with its tough rolling drive and poignant heavy keys, is very much a track to dropped indoors, on floor. [WAG061]

Bea Tricks : Be At Risk Ep : Wagon Repair : 12"

‘’Be At Risk'’ was created at Tracknotic Studios located somewhere in the beautiful and magical hills of ibiza. It was recorded and produced by Bea Tricks and Beatmaster G (producer/beatboxer) using state of the art class A equipment and a whole lot of good vibes. Wide range of influences can be heard when listening to ‘Be at Risk’… such as; electro pop, punk rock, hip hop, old school, 90’s techno … ‘We wanted to create an innovative record where all our influences would bepresent and that would go deep into the roots of our musical tastes… from records that we used to love as kids, to the tracks that really get us going on the dance floor. There’s also a mystical side to the project, that we thought was relevant to the current situation where there’s a whole lot of talk about ‘the end of the world’ and so on… when you hear tracks such as ‘el mensaje’ you will be able to decipher our positive outlook on this topic, but also our beliefs in the knowledge transmitted by lost civilizations and the fact that we believe in a renewal process and not an ‘end’. We created a character that travels through dimensions to awaken civilizations to the fact that they must be brave and use their supernatural abilities to transition to the next phase….just how us ‘humans’ should do'’ Marta Nael’s artwork for the record reflects the arrival of the dimensional traveler to a fictional world where it’s inhabitants will interact with him and show him a good time (melting dancing) and their fears (pipistrello) to their non-conformism (contravention)… ‘Its up to the listener to interpret the record in their own way, and we just hope that you will have as much fun listening to it as we had making it! Luis Flores [Obtane] : Pain & Prosthetics : Hidden Agenda : 12"

Luis Flores enters the world of Hidden Agenda. Once home to just productions from label boss Dietrich Schoenemann and Tony Rohr, the label has added the likes of Misc, Shokh+Star, Bau and Metalogic. Veteran of Mexico's techno scene and years of pushing innovating and non-conforming concepts,  Luis has developed his own production style that is precise and hypnotic with a healthy degree of dance floor groove. His first release on Droid Recordings was enthusiastically lauded and in put into heavy rotation by the likes of Chris Liebing and Speedy J. Already he is gaining momentum with interest from DJ heavyweights and international tours in Europe, China, the U.S. and elsewhere.  a1 bajando "As the name indicates, Bajando fits in as the perfect comedown track, but also works as a compelling opener.  Its ominous vibe methodically elevates dance floor energy to prepare listeners for whatever may follow. a2 the pain in my left arm"This track's crisp hats and snares steadily construct a heavy groove that makes an immediate appeal to the senses. The introduction of dark synth bass hits and bizzare vocal clips hypes the track to an unexpected craze. The fade-to-black vibe on this one will work on any dancefloor - techno, minimal, progressive, and crossover. b1 the pain in my left arm (obtane remix)"Obtane takes on remix duties for this Luis Flores single and turns out an ultra-slow powerhouse. The mix leaves basic elements in tact, but redirects all hands toward a harder edged audience to delivers the goods. [3/8/2010]

[THEMA19]

Donor Truss : Sude : Thema : 12"

When casting a weary eye towards the impending chill of winter, it’s important to remember that the choice of company kept can greatly affect the way in which one wiles away the long gray hours. In this case, we didn’t even need to look further than our own backyard. Enter deep techno masons, Donor/Truss. Made up of Greg Schappert of Brooklyn and Tom Russell of Wales, their collective efforts have seeped into the consciousness of world class DJs, producers and fans of uncompromising techno music through releases on Synewave, Miniscule, Dilek, and Dumb Unit. With this, their first EP on Thema, they have begun expanding their signature sound. The heady claustrophobia we’ve come to know and love has opened up just enough, spurring a graceful and startling evolution. We also would like to say that we’re very happy that Thema’s first release for the year 2010 is, in part, from local NYC-based talent. Mr Schappert has been a big supporter of this label for quite sometime and to have him and Tom step onboard is just about the best way we can think of to start the New Year. The future is here, welcome 2010!  Leading the fray, Sude 3 lays down a new path for the Donor/Truss sound. Stalking behind their diminished hallucinogenic soundscapes is now a confident, muscular rigor. There is no concern for taste or temporal savvy. It is blank, mannerless sound with a 1000-yard stare that melts through the walls of whatever shitty little warehouse is lucky enough to contain it. Call it ‘Big Room’—whatever—if you are reading this you’ve heard all of the verbal qualifiers. None of them matter. Something this raw never looks right on paper.   The ambient interlude, Sude 1, is similar to its predecessor in its total disregard for fetishistic sophistication. Here we have two minutes and thirty-six seconds of doleful minor key refrain—a beautiful melancholic piece that functions as a tiny window into a vast sadness.  The flip is devoted to Sude 5, a track that plows fields otherwise thought fallow in it’s adoption of an expansive dub treatment. Trusted, time-worn components are assembled to reveal a monochromatic scene of barren elation. Oh— while we’re on the subject of components: D/T has also had the foresight to include 3 locked grooves of the straight shit. And, of course, for those who keep it binary there’s also a very special digital-only treat: Sude 2 showcases the now-famous Donor/Truss psychedelia now trimmed and splayed over thunderous percussion. We had to include this one as it’s a perfect example of how the boys from BK/UK fuse intellect with undeniable physicality. Which is what it’s really all about. [3/8/2010]

Barem [Paul Ritch Remix] : Heyday : Foundsound : 12"

on a1 – “heyday” – our argentinean friend barem delivers an eleven-minute minimal anthem. both haunting and blissful, this track flows as if going from night into day. it starts off dark and groovy with reverberating vocal cuts, a bouncy bassline and captivating breakdowns. as the track progresses, it gently morphs into something perfect for any sunrise – with enchanting guitar chords, a perfect little house hi-hat, a perfect little clap, and an irresistible groove that heightens any party into the morning hours.  on b1 – “heyday (paul ritch remix)” – you get just under nine minutes of club-storming tech-house with a remix from parisian paul ritch – known for releases on labels like get physical music, wagon repair, resopal schallware, drumcode, and the list goes on. this big room gem carries over the darkness of the vocal cuts from barem’s original version along with an almost proggy, early-morning intensity that is fueled by swirling melodies, enthralling delays and a groovy bassline that’ll have people bouncing and floating all over the dancefloor. Mutant Clan : Figure SPC F : Figure : 12"

Mutant Clan is the mysterious alter-ego of long serving electronic music veterans Timo Maas and Santos. After a small handful of heavyweight EPs on labels like Connaisseur and SCI + TEC, its time for this undoubtedly talented duo to unleash their next batch of weapons on Figure SPC. The considerably epic 'We Are' fuses classic elements of tweaking acid, bright jacking drums and an extended, open-ended arrangement that floats atop a choir of celestial rave angels…! Built for cavernous techno meccas, or up-close and personal basement sweat-boxes alike. In comparison the deephouse tones of 'I Feel The Sense' retain the excellent production values that we've come to expect from this pair, and take a trip down a dubbed and shuffling melodious path. Uplifting, summery and full of clever, climbing effects its a lighter, yet by no means lesser, trip! [3/8/2010]

Peter Horrevorts [Marc Marzenit] : Bloody Hands Ep : Gem Records : 12"

The title track (Bloody Hands) has a unique futuristic sparkle with plenty of funk and loads of interesting effects, characteristic of Horrevorts’ productions. The lead and bassline build up tension throughout the track, subtly climaxing after 5 minutes with some guaranteed hands in the air action! On the B-side we find ‘Nymph’. This funky deep techey track slots perfectly into those hypnotizing moments of the night. Quality production! The B2 is remixed by Marc Marzenit who captured the subtlety of ‘Bloody Hands’ perfectly with his ‘Monster Remix’. This monster has a slightly deeper, more progressive flavor than the original yet maintaining its energy. Rumor has it that the remix has been signed to Secret Cinema’s first mixed compilation ‘Welcome To My Club’ (March 2010). One impressive release from two of today’s most promising producers! Dasha Rush : Sonic State : Sonic Groove : 12"

Dasha Rush though a new signing has been a very close ally of Sonic Groove over the last four years. Adam X owner of Sonic Groove met Dasha in a very ironic way at a random party in NYC where the music being played was not to their liking. Soon a conversation sparked about what music they both liked. Dasha and Adam were soon shocked to find out that each had very similar tastes in artists & styles from the yester years of underground techno music. It was for sure a strange coincidence to take place in an event where this type of music would not be known by most. From this point on the connection and passion that both have for the darker, rougher sounds of techno music caused a close friendship to forge between the two of them.    Since this time Dasha Rush the former Paris living, Russian Ex patriot now Berliner has gone on to forge a very solid foundation in Europe with her music production and her record labels, Hunger to Create and Fullpanda Records.    Dasha has received solid support from the finest of record shops including the highly respected Hardwax in Berlin & Rubadub in the UK. She has rocked many a live show and Dj set from Australia to Japan to all over the EU and her native country Russia. Dasha’s latest dj mixes on the very respected blog, mnmlssg.blogspot.com website have received rave reviews and was also listed as mix of the day on Resident Advisor.    Dasha’s newest 3 track release "Sonic State" on Sonic Groove can be described as dark, futuristic, industrialized subsonic bass techno for the mind and the feet. This is the current day techno sound for a brand new decade. [3/8/2010]

On the flipside, Club Lonely, a These Days in-house production moniker for jam sessions that happened in the label’s studio between friends, presents a tribute to N.Y club “Shelter". [CCS043]

D'julz : Rotondo : Circus Company : 12"

Since his last release on Circus Company (Fleurette CCS033), D’Julz add been quite busy in the sutdio. He did a lot of remixes for Slam on Soma, Matthew Dear on Get Physical, 2000 & One on 100%, Arnaud le Texier on 20:20 Vision and Spencer Parker on Rekids. He’s now back with a freshly baked 3 tracker called Rotondo. That’s also the track title of the A side. Rotondo is techy and slightly dark. There you feel a constant pressure that will leeds you to euphoric pad which is just a simple saxophone screaming sample. On the B side we are getting into some naïve and housy feeling with On the Road. Then Ideas are Fishes is closing down the record on catchy vocal hook. That king of track to keep the party rolling. Once again D’Julz delivers some great cuts that should be soon on Rotondo everywhere ! [2/8/2010]

Losoul feat. Faila [Dyed Soundorom] : Time.. Passes EP : Freak n Chic : 12"

As 2009 draws to a close Freak ‘n Chic can look back at yet another superb year of output, with Dan Ghenacia, Anthony Collins, Dyed Soundorom and many others all continuing the labels excellent reputation. The time for reminiscing, however, is not now as the Parisian imprint has one last trick up its sleeve in LoSoul feat. Fadila “Time Passes EP”, backed with a remix from the aforementioned Soundorom. With releases on venerable institutions such as Classic, Playhouse and Moodmusic, Peter Kremeier’s LoSoul project needs little introduction but for the uninitiated his sound can be summed up as an off-kilter, original take on house. “Time Passes” featuring the vocal talents of Fadila is typical to the wonky LoSoul interpretation of house, too.. Tokyo Black Star [Radioslave] : Caballero Ep : Innervisions : 12"

After the release of their album “Black Ships” earlier this year Tokyo Black Stars Cybersamurais Alex and Isao are returning to the Mothership Innervisions with this great 12inch. “Caballero” is a tune from the album with a brandnew mixdown by Andreas Schorpp and Âme. This turns it into a powerful dancefloorweapon for the Space Lab Night at the sadly gone Club Yellow in Tokyo. On the B-Side Radio Slave delivered a fantastic Remix of ” Caballero ” that adds an exotic more cosmic sounding touch to the repetitive and hypnotic patterns he is known for. People kept on asking “What was that?” because it is very different to his usual work. All in all we think that this is definitely the best Tokyo Black Star Release we ever had in our hands. Tevo Howard is the new unsung hero of Chicago house music! After his debut 12” for HHYR “Move”, Tevo now delivers a six track double pack. All six tracks are warm, emotional, raw, hypnotic, long and deep tracks and take us back to the original vibe of Chicago house music. Daniel Wang : The Balihu Bootleg : Rush Hour : 12"

Final Daniel Wang release on Rush Hour, incl. 6 tracks not on the recent compilation.  The Balihu Bootleg EP is the final release in the Best Of Balihu series on Rush Hour. This 6 track EP holds two unreleased tracks (!) and four early works and b-sides.  This EP starts with “Sylver Belt” which was included on the never released and much in demand Balihu 002. “Not Feeling It” and “East Side Hustle” are early b-side Balihu tracks that were not featured on the compilation.  Side B continues with the instrumental version of “If It Feels Good”. This deep, electronic track was taken from the vault of Danny and has not been released before. “Shadows” & “Unhouse” are again two early Danny tracks that were not on the Balihu compilation.  And with this limited EP we close off this wonderful project with Danny. We hope to see him back one day with new music. [3/1/2010]

[YRE022]

Morning Factory : Forgotten Moments : Yore : 12"

Yore starts the new year off on the good foot with a four-tracker from the Dutch Duo “Morning Factory” that’s remarkably accomplished for a first release. Expertly manning the controls are two gentlemen from The Netherlands, Jean-Pierre van der Leeuw and Jozef Lemmens, who clearly produce a high-octane electronic body music that’s timeless and fresh. Replete with dropouts and epic pulsations, “Runners” sprints in with a mid-tempo house groove that pounds so mightily, that we are scared which damage it will do out there. Morning Factory stokes serious heat in the eight-minute burner, and the sound is so full and rich the voices ecstatically wailing at the track’s center can just barely be heard. Opting for a less raw and epic attack, “You Gave Up” is no less satisfying in its soulful breeziness. Chanting the title refrain, a female singer spreads her bountiful vocal gifts around while the boys polish a sleek funk-house backing to perfection. Shifting gears slightly, the B-side’s fiery techno-funk banger “Raw Tunes” works a slinky disco pattern and aquatic dub chords into a frothy lather for seven semi-ecstatic minutes while on the EP’s last cut the lights dim slightly for the graceful stepper “Someone” to take the EP out on a wave of radiant uplift. The material seems so effortlessly realized, it makes van der Leeuw and Lemmens sound like the oldest of hands. [3/1/2010]

A1 - Traffic (new wipers mix) is a driving 'wide-screen' track which will turn the dancefloor into a heaving mass of frequencies and beats. A2 - Slight Transition takes the vibe very deep and simple genuinely less is more thought. B1 - Fixer. A syncopated groove is created with a heavy bass and dancing hi-hats going off like fireworks. Over this, Brendon Moeller totally surprised us by dropping what is definitey one of the great Mini-Moog solos of all time! B2 - Safari.

Kasper Bjorke : Standing On Top of Utopia : HFN Music : LP

Following the highly acclaimed ‚Harbour Boat Trips 01: Copenhagen by Trentemøller‘ hfn music proudly presents it’s first artist release by Kasper Bjørke, with his brand new long player, ‚Standing On Top Of Utopia‘. Danish prize export Kasper Bjørke comes from the heart of the thriving Copenhagen electronic scene. After more than a decade as a busy producer and DJ, Kasper has released his work on labels like Plant Music, Fine, Thugfucker and V2 Records and in addition received a Danish Music Award as Best Producer, for the well known project Filur, which he still runs with his old friend Tomas Barfod (Tartelet / Gomma / Get Physical). Two years after his much applauded solo debut ‚In Gumbo‘ (released on NYC based Plant Music in 2007) Kasper Bjørke is ready to release his sophomore record, ‚Standing On Top Of Utopia‘ which is scheduled for release in February 2010. The album is an exciting multi-genre journey through Kasper‘s mature, extravagant and richly musical mind. Lashings of glittering analogue synthesizer jams, warm throbbing post-disco trips, touching, heart-felt pop songs and dark electronic club tools are all present. Kasper really went to town on this album, and each track literally overflowing with top class studio and musical ability. Bursting with live instrumentation, tape-deck overdubs and an unmissable finger-onthe- pulse atmosphere, its a treat for the ears and in fact all the senses. 10 uplifiting, melancholic, timeless and life-affirming songs lie in store. A veritable Danish entourage of vocalists including Louise Foo (Giana Factory) and Tomas Höffding (WhoMadeWho) are featured on the album alongside a wide selection of guest musicians. Jacob Bellens (I Got You On Tape / Murder) wrote the song and contributed the vocals and lyrics on “Young Again”, the first single to be lifted from the album, which comes complete with superb remixes from Whomadewho, Serge Santiago and Lopazz & Zarook. [DESOLATX006]

M.in : Sing & Blow at the Same Time : Desolat : 12"

In 2010 Desolat continues its one year old X series with M.in: “Sing And Blow At The Same Time". M.in is an young artist from Frankfurt area developing his individual music taste by being open-minded towards other genres. His interpretation of house / tech-house is spiced up with jazz, soul and afrobeat elements in order to present a varied and sophisticated blend to his audience and led to numerous well received solo releases and remixes for Radio Slave and Italoboyz amongst others. M.in’s house and his versatile beat programming caught our attention a long time ago - and the title track here simply seemed to be tailor-made for Loco Dice and his sets. “Sing And Blow At The Same Time” was probably one of the best kept secrets since last summer and now it’s time to reveal it. This new DESOLAT X will be the first in the series to be available as a digital file as well. Its coloured vinyl, with artwork by Florian Pohl and mastering by Enrico Mercaldi, will remain a collectors item - great sounding and good looking. [3/1/2010]

[DET13]

K'Alexi Shelby [Raudive] : I Can Go Vol. 1 : Detelefunk : 12"

The latest EP to come from the Detroit Grand Pubahs label Detelefunk is DJ and producer K‘ Alexi Shelby with “I Can Go”. Kaay is one of Chicago‘s true heroes and cited by many as a pioneer of the city‘s sound. At a young age of 12 he was already moving in the right circles befriending worldwide legends like Frankie Knuckles and Ron Hardy whilst frequenting the famous Warehouse. His upbringing in Chicago in the 70‘s and 80‘s meant he was exposed to a range of genres and different styles of music including Stevie Wonder, Prince, Curtis Mayfield and David Huff - these same names would prove to be the roots of influence. Kaay recorded for prime Chicago house labels Trax (with „Hot Swing“ and the album Trick Tracks as K. Kool); DJ International (producing one of the rare house albums, “Don‘t Cha Want It ?”), Derrick May‘s seminal techno label Transmat with the classic „All for Lee-Sah”, and later European labels ACV and Djax-Up-Beats. He is responsible for several early acid-house classics. He began DJing in the early ‚80s, and as part of the Risque Rhythm Team (later Risque II and Risque III), Shelby recorded „The Jacking Zone,“ „Essence of a Dream“ and „More than Just a Dance,“ all 1986-87 classics on the emerging house scene. He has a tally of successful hit records remixing and collaborating with other artists being sought by a diverse range of artists like The Pet Shop Boys ,DJ Deep, Derrick May, Paul Johnson, DJ Gregory, Kenny Dope, Mr Lee (who produces for R Kelly), Gene Hunt, Rolando, Maurice Joshua, Marshall Jefferson, Marc Romboy, Mark Grant, Larry Heard, Robert Owens, TjenTjen, Dave Angel, Felix Da Housecat, Will Smith, etc. It’s his unique smooth blend of techno and house, as Kaay calls ‘TecSoul’ (which is also the the name of his own label) that attracted the eye of the Pubahs with a track titled “I Can Go” featuring Kaay’s own vocals, and the heavy female breathing. Kaay states about “I Can Go”: Its just about things we can do all night: DJ-ing, sex, makin [3/1/2010]

Legowelt : Gardens of the Ghetto : Crème : 12"

The official follow up to Legowelt's ''Vatos Locos'' LP, last years magnum opus/tour de force/piece de resistance etc (did we loose your attention yet?). Ever since the inclusion of these tracks on the extremely limited (and partially withdrawn) Vatos Locos CD - we've had many requests to put them on vinyl. Who are we to fly in the face of popular demand? So here it is, on glorious virgin black vinyl in a gorgeous sweet 'n' sober sleeve. Inside you find four tracks of patented deep(house) jakking Wolfers madness .. Two bangers and two intropersective low-ridin' rolers. Not only great for ghetto gardening and home improvement, but also for workin' up a sweat on the dancefloor. [3/1/2010]

[PFR110]

Martin Landsky : Werkschau : Poker Flat : 12"

The bold and futuristic year of 2010 sees the release of ‚Werkshau‘, an unmixed compilation that gathers together a hand picked selection of the producer‘s favourite cuts. The music stands for all that he loves, and what he loves he puts on show! Summing up the Landsky sound, and looking back over the years one can‘t help but feel a deep underlying quality emanate from the music. Like subtle, mature fl avours running through a well-prepared banquet. This special E.P, capturing three choice tracks from those on offer on the compilaiton, includes some of our favourite Landsky material, re-visited. Firstly the seminal ‚1000 Miles‘ is re-interpreted and brought up-to date, with Landsky‘s ‚2000 Miles‘. A strong driving powerhouse of reduced acid signals and hypnotic synth phrases, its the sound of Martin Landsky, Future, Present and Past. A real deep running story of a track, ‚Naked‘ is rich with thick bass and phasing, tripping chords, running percussion and growing tension that never ends. Fitting to any occassion, the track was originally released on Landsky‘s own Intim Label and sounds as fresh now as the day it was released. Tying things up the taught, tense and grooving tones of ‚Monitor One‘ sail through. This futuristic house cut revolves around a staccato bass hook that drips with Funk, echoing of Landsky‘s DJ history that began before House was ever invented! [3/1/2010]

Ryan Crosson & Guti : You've Got Me : Supplement Facts : 12"

Guy Gerbers’ “Supplement Facts Records” is proud to present “You’ve Got Me EP” by Ryan Crosson & Guti - (SFR018). “You’ve Got Me EP” carries two original mixes by the dazzling artist duo. The release marks the debut for both on “Supplement Facts Records” and we are ecstatic to welcome them to our family of artists. The inspiration for this release for Ryan & Guti came from Guy Gerbers’ trademark sounds and musical vibe, which naturally melts this record into Supplement Facts’ catalogue. The artists Ryan Crosson and Guti individually represent exactly the contemporary approach to electronic music production and performance that “Supplement Facts” aims for and cherishes. To have them team up for this release means a particular honor for us! The tracks don’t only fit into the labels repertoire superbly, but also enclose a unique mood created by sensitive melodies, thick beat lines and a superb vocal performance on “You’ve Got Me” featuring “Don Fuego". The title track “You’ve Got Me” nourishes of the poignant vocal line that really ties the track together. The second title “Marimbaby” bears a funky latino influenced groove. Both productions build up to a solid groove that makes them equally as useful on the dance floor. [3/1/2010]

[TARTELET010]

James Braun [Claude Von Stroke / Tomas Barford] : Symphonia : Tartelet : 12"

James Braun is one of the new exciting producers out of Denmark, with his strong productions he have earned great respect amongst djs like Jesse Rose and Claude VonStroke. This is the second release from the Danish producer on Tartelet. The original is, like usually, a combination between solid house, great producing skills and James’ urge for experimenting with genre and sounds. With detroit-ish string theme and bass driven groove the original is fun, intriguing yet powerful. On the B-side Tartelet are proud to present a remix by Claude VonStroke, who wanted to do it after heavy support of Brauns earlier material. The remix features many of the original elements but in updated and very danceable version. Label-man Tomas Barfod shows us his darker sides on his remix. Barfod takes Symphonia late-night with string pad, dirty drums, spacy synths and deep-bass. [3/1/2010]

Fritz Kalkbrenner : The Dead End EP : Suol : 12"

After the huge success of his first single “Wingman EP“ on Suol, Fritz Kalkbrenner is now back with yet another stunning 3 tracker EP by the name of “The Dead End“. On A1 we find the original version of „Last Call“. The deepness from second 1 struck us right away on this one. As usual, Fritz’s harmonic skills and use of melody is outstanding. “Last Call“ is already supported by his berlin mate Sascha Funke. Philadelphia on B1 shows the rave background of Berlins child. Dubby changes and always keeping an eye on the groove. Arranged to hit the peak at any second, this is not the track you wanna play for your toilet run. [GS07]

Pompelmoessap / Ion Ludwig : Ave Leo, Spiritual Devil : Grubenstrasse Zurich : 12"

Music with its seven notes, coming back to its first one at the octave: simple, limitless and ad infinitum. This is the next clever coup from Zurich."Ave Leo” is an homage to life. The three guys from Pompelmoessap lay it on thick and dally over a tenderly melting melody, skillfully play with shakers, drum cuts and low deep down effects. Evoking a conjuring atmosphere that gets under your skin. The groove is right. The sun rises, early in the morning at the club. On the B-side you will find a collectible, an everlasting trip of melancholic club couch music with Bob Dylan’s cultural message from the 70ies. Ion Ludwig looks at “Spiritual Devil” as a kind of “protest” against all those 2D digitally recycled techhouse sounds, which are released every day en masse. Here plays timeless music for connoisseurs who want to feel and think while listening. Smoke some weed before listening. Peace. [3/1/2010]

Alexander Kowalski / Extrawelt : Reset / Leaf 43 : Damage : 12"

On the second release, of his new label 'Damage Music Berlin', label founder Alexander Kowalski gets together with Extrawelt to explore the different facets of Dub Technosound. A1 - Alexander Kowalski "Reset" Nobody will be able to escape the dormant authority of this number: The heavy, slow Groove and the powerful Dubs of this track capture you from the first until the last moment. With 'Reset' Kowalski pushes his controversy with Dubtechno from 'The Heat Of The Night', released on the first Damages, even further. The Grooves act like monoliths from another time, the precise, sharp Dubs create the mind-blowing, inexhaustible, rich atmosphere of a tropical rain forest. B1 - Extrawelt "Leaf 43" Originally Kowalski planned to produce all the tracks of Damages 02 himself. When Extrawelt gave him this track though, he immediately knew that there would not be a more perfect B-Side for this record imaginable… [3/1/2010]

Japan's top techno export Akihiro Mochizuki returns for his third EP on Figure, and he's absolutely on top form! After the heavy, rolling maneuvers of his 'Black Out' EP last year, this new 3 track installment leaves no question as to Mochi's talents. Throwing us into the deep end with 'Through The Never', a pitching, rushing surge of full frontal bass pressure passes through the void. Climbing and peaking in classic Mochi stlye, the tension mounts and then subsides in a series of intense builds. On the flip the literally-titled 'Climbing Exercise' slams the energy even deeper to the floor. Brooding, cataclysmic and foreboding, this darkroom builder employs spooky synths and weird pitching machines as it ascends through your consciousness. [3/1/2010]

City Wasteland comes as a full CD as well as a split in two 12inches including some tracks that are vinyl-exclusives. Sebastian Lohse a.k.a. Break SL from Dresden is still quite young, but you can feel that he already defined his own universe of sounds and proper production skills. The second 12inch (City Wasteland Pt.2) now starts with the track "Move!" which doesn´t carry it´s name for nothing…this is true-school Techno! Next, "Dirtbomb" shows some nice edges and has a kinda dark feeling. Hovering samples and a raw, dirty feel on the drums gives the whole track a very subtle blues. On the flip Break SL enters deepest territory of Detroit-influenced Techno with "Weird Dancer". The last track here "TFF" is a vinyl-exclusive which delivers intense and acid-like drum layers …Chicago galore! "Thanks for purchasing a real copy!" [9/28/2009]

Mauro Picotto : Love Message : Alchemy : 12"

Mauro Picotto returns to spread more of his own brand of Italian- Alchemy amour! After the fantastic success of 'Diamond', Picotto returns with his end of summer anthem 'Love Message'. With the success of his Meganite Ibiza parties still fresh, Mauro drops his latest dancefloor gem. The don of melodic techno takes a softer, yet no less powerful route on 'Love Message'. Housey beats, and euphoric synth line make the original a sure fire, hands in the air number. On remix duty and in keeping with his trend of mighty mix packages, the label head has drafted two of the hottest talents of today. First up is Belgium producer and Great Stuff artist Ramon Tapia, who turns in not one, but two takes on the original. His 'First Message' is a low-slung tech groove machine, that chops the originals synths and stabs them throughout. His 'Second Message' ups the pace with its rolling bassline and white noise breaks, Again the cut-up synth stabs feature. [1/18/2010]

Da Posse : Its My Life : Clone Classics Cuts : 12"

Clone Classic Cuts continues to dig in the crates to bring back forgotten or obscure records from the past! This is 3 tracks by Da Posse (produced by Hula... one of the Outthere Brothers... and with Maurice Joshua, K Fingers & Martell). Strings & Its My Life are Chicago's take on Detroit techno... a rare release that sounds like a early Derrick May record (think 'The Dance') but maybe slightly more straight forward (as one might expect from Chicago). A rare piece in house and techno history since this is one of the rare examples of a record that doesn't show the clear difference between Chicago and Detroit in the late 80's. This record most likely got produced within 1 year after Rhythm = Rhythms legendary Nude Photo and Strings of Life releases (both '87 and this came out in '88). As extra bonus track we have The Groove. A phat bass driven chicago acid track that still rocks it. Another fine piece of powerful dance music history back in the spot light! [1/18/2010]

[CADENZA45]

Mirko Loko [Carl Craig / Villalobos] : Seventynine Remixes : Cadenza : 12"

Just in time to warm the winter months up north (and soundtrack some seriously dreamy summer nights down south) comes a very special remix package for Mirko Loko’s album Seventynine, featuring three certified legends of house and techno: Carl Craig, Ricardo Villalobos and Cadenza’s own master of ceremonies, Luciano. And when we say “very special,” we mean it: these are big tunes with a deceptively subtle touch, and their sleight-of-hand moves are going to turn all types of dance floors upside down. On the A-side, Planet E’s Carl Craig tackles “Love Harmonic” and turns in what might just be his most expansive remix since Junior Boys’ “Like a Child.” Stretching to nearly 12 minutes and following a long, gradual buildup of rolling congas, you might not immediately realize quite how mammoth this tune is. It’s only once you’re in the thick of things, with those trademark C2 sawtooth drones slicing through a glistening haze of strings, that you feel its full impact: this isn’t just a journey, it’s a trip around the world in a hot-air balloon. On the B-side, Ricardo Villalobos takes us to a place only he knows how to reach with “Takhtok ‘Hilery’s Chant’ remix (edit),” placing the chanting children’s choir of the original at center stage, and framing them with a velvety curtain of fuzzy synthesizers and shirred, crumpled beats. The groove assembles itself around whispering shakers and a crisp handclap, with tiny percussive scraps left floating in the air; everything feels at once close up and faraway. Time doesn’t so much stop as congeal into a swirling, bubbling gel; the liquid pulse is inside you and all around you. This is Ricardo at his amniotic best. [2/22/2010]
