Unknown Artist : American Beauty (Original / VIP Mix) : White : 12"
In 1999 a film starring Kevin Spacey and Annette
Bening and catapulted Mena Suvari into the fantasies of many, the soundtrack
also conjured an ear worm into plenty of heads. Said film was American Beauty
and it's that piano hook which features in these tracks available to you now.
Both the original version and it's VIP mix are on this 12", a first for these
tracks. The original first appeared in 2006, the VIP on a very big album in

Mattix & Futile : Corkscrew / Where We Are : Cold Blooded
Recordings : 12"
Rapidly rising stars Mattix & Futile
follow up their Cold Blooded debut with
two more absolutely huge slabs of D&B mayhem 'Corkscrew' and 'Where We Are'. Leaning to the harder end of
the spectrum, 'Corkscrew' is a full on
assault on the senses - deep bass stabs, high pitched rises and tough
choppy drums mean this one is
guaranteed a reaction. Having already clocked up over 150,000 views with You Tube king's UKF in
less than 10 days, and also featured on
the brand new DNB Arena compilation this one looks set to blow! 'Where We Are' sees the duo get deeper, but make no
mistake, this one is still aimed
squarely at the dance floor! Rolling beats and hypnotic base fuse with a
catchy vocal hook and trance FX's to
create a track that's going to be smashing
clubland all summer long. TRACKLIST: A: Corkscrew || B: Where We

Promo: Kicking this release off is 'Poon', a
crowd-pleasing number that's been doing
plenty of damage in Hype's sets across the globe. Stepping beats are underpinned by winding, warping and morphing
bass notes that give fresh life to the
dancefloor Drum and Bass formula. On the flip is a complete contrast that displays Sub Zero's effortless diversity.

Dub Phizix is a fresh name for 2011. His unique

Tokyo Prose : Introducing Tokyo Prose (Phase 1) : Samurai Red
Seal : 12"
One of the most anticipated releases for some
time, we are proud to bring you the debut recordings from young Auckland,
New Zealand duo Tokyo Prose. Discovered
very early in their careers by DJ Presha, the two Sam's were signed to Samurai
Red Seal as core artists in a long term
development deal. It has taken a few years to get to the point where we have
this debut release fully polished and
ready, but as you will hear the wait has been worth it. These 2 producers have
quickly formed a very distinctive style
that has been drawing fans in their droves. As well as many general fans
of Drum and Bass music, their eager fanbase boasts name DJ's and established producers before they
have ever had a fully available product to purchase. 'Introducing Tokyo Prose' brings stylish
swagger and musical substance to a scene overflowing with identical bare boned
rollers. Gliding between minimal
ambience and deep soulful steppers, these gifted young men aptly display their
knack for sample selection and unique
groove building. DJ support has been consistent from names like Calibre,

With a career spanning more than a decade and an
inimitable discography that includes his latest longplayer for Instra:mental's

2-tone percussion lick and stabbing vocal cuts, punctuated with an increasingly
complex selection of warm, unctuous bass, analogue drums and one-off hits. 'The
Liar' on the flip weaves shreds of tough junglism into a restrained, dubbed

Chase & Status :
Time Ft. Delilah : Ram : 12"
Chase & Status continue to take the world by
storm with their upcoming release 'Time ft. Delilah'. Taken from their gold
selling second album 'No More Idols' which debuted at no 2 in the UK official
album charts, this track showcases the versatility and faultless production
skills this talented duo possess. 'Time' kicks off with an emotionally fuelled
intro featuring the beautiful vocal of Delilah. The haunting intro switches
into drum lead track with a mellow vibe, one that is certain to become a firm
favourite at all festivals and most certainly a summer anthem in the making. On
the aa side Wilkinson brings his own distinctive sound to create a massive
remix that is destined to tear up dance floors the world over. With electronic
bleeps, heavy bassline and cleverly crafted use of the vocal, Wilkinson's
remix, brings a completely different interpretation of the track, giving it a
darker, deeper feel. Contrasting beautifully with the a side, the remix,
creates a 12 that covers all elements of drum & bass, making it a definite

V/A : Shogun Audio Evolution EP Series 2 : Shogun Audio :
2x12"
[Promo] A year on from Shogun's first
installment of the scene smashing Evolution Series and we're finally ready to
receive the next chapter that's destined to be yet another 'must have' in
record collections across the world. Bringing together a formidable array of
artists from the Shogun ranks, Series 2 leads the way for others to follow with
drum & bass that's second to none. Be prepared for an EP so sick it's
scandalous One of the hottest players in the scene right now, Rockwell kicks us
off with the heavily hammered 'BTKRSH', possibly his most unadulterated dance
floor production to date. Robotic sleaze and future-bound synths abound as it
rolls and rolls with that all-important Rockwell originality that'll keep this
one on the heavy rotation lists for a long time to come. Next up The Prototypes
drop the utterly filthy fireball 'Subterrestrial' as they delve into
territories previously unknown, proving they've a lot more to give than just
their masterful euphoric productions that have earned them legions of fans
across the world already. A massive slice of tech- stepping D&B with bass
so ill you'll need to see a doctor afterwards. Moving on and it's time to
launch another firm favourite from the Shogun silo, the Icicle remix of
Friction & K- Tee's 'Set It Off'. Rinsed by Friction and the rest, the
re-lick is a lesson in bass manipulation from one of the new masters of the
scene. Turn it up and don't deviate, this one's gonna increase your pulse rate!
Finally to finish up the reigns are handed over to the prolific and much
adorned S.P.Y. who continues in the same vein as last years 'Gangsta' with an
all new turbo-charged track 'Pressure Drop'. A total rudeboy stepper with
rolling reece that runs the roost as it pummels its way to the finish line,

London Elektricity : Yikes! : Hospital : 4x12"
Yikes!" is the brand new album from London
Elektricity, brimming with beautiful
vocals, intriguing instrumentals and sumptuous compositions. From the soothing contemplative lilt of piano-driven,
vocal-led 'Elektricity Will Keep Me
Warm' through the energetic, uplifting cuts like 'The Plan That Cannot
Fail' with its soaring synths, rock n
roll tear out pieces like the eponymous track of the album 'Yikes!' and back again to the
downtempo, vocal led intro of
'Invisible Worlds' and 'Fault Lines', London Elektricity's signature
style is stamped indelibly into each
track, but as so often is the case, it is as a whole that 'Yikes!' is made a timeless classic.
*'This is my first release for three
years, and features the vocals of Elsa Esmeralda who graced 'Just One
Second' from my last album 'Syncopated
City'. Elsa features on seven tracks on 'Yikes!', and I can safely say this is easily my best
work to date. 'Yikes!' has been two
years in the making; I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making
it!' *The founding father of the
Hospital imprint and mouthpiece of the multi-award winning, chart topping Hospital podcast,
London Elektricity is a name that
should need no introduction. Since starting the label in 1996, Tony
Colman has carved out a fearsome
reputation as one of the pre-eminent names in D+B and is at the forefront of the UK music scene
today. *Swedish vocalist Elsa Esmeralda
plays a crucial role in shaping the sound of the album. Her tender,
soulful voice is poignant and powerful,
yet deeply intimate. She will be performing at a series of events with London Elektricity
over the summer, including Hospitality
at The O2 Academy Brixton, Lovebox and Parklife festivals. Each track
from the album is depicted in cartoon
form on the album artwork by graphic artist
Trickartt. Striking and characteristically quirky, the cover is composed
of a simple head shot of London
Elektricity with cartoon vehicles crawling along the rim of his iconic glasses. Animated videos
have been made for a number of the
tracks on the album, and provide an integral part of the promotional
campaign, with a new video being
unveiled to view on londonelektricity.com every week before the album. The album is available on
CD, digitally (deluxe and standard editions)
and also as a strictly limited 4x12" vinyl collectors' edition in a gatefold sleeve - the full CD album is also

Misanthrop : Sidereal / Latitude : Neosignal : 12"
Misanthrop flies confidently solo on Neosignal's
7th release with this cinematic, adrenaline-packed 12 inch. His production is
epic and sends the listener off to a very special state of being. The current
generation of drum & bass heads are in for a massive treat as Misanthrop
takes things into previously unchartered territory. * 'Sidereal' leads with its
sonic richness taking electronic dance music to a level we are not so familiar
with. Its dramatic temperament is not for the faint hearted as it is techy and
industrial, combined with the occasional more atmospheric feel. It's a heavy
space-age growly thriller and an absolute dark delight. * On the flip is
'Latitude' with its progressive, rolling slightly devious drumbeat. It
continues the techy-dark feel, but with a smoother edge. Misanthrop's
sophistication and care while working through various genres has resulted in
him coming up with a sound that drum & bass has been waiting for. This release
brings together the past, present and the future in a way not many producers
can pull off but Misanthrop excels at. * We can expect music coming from Phace,

Reactiv : The Watcher / Sabotage : Tech Noir : 12"
After a hiatus from the music world Tech:Noir
returns with a superb release from Minneapolis' Reactiv. With a flair for
intricate drum work and an innovative use of space and texture Reactiv is a
producer who truly has his own sound. His music is both impacting and
long-standing, with an attention to detail that is a feast to the ears. With
some incredible releases already under his belt his musical journey is set for
great things and we are delighted to have him onboard at Tech:Noir. The Watcher
From the offset this tune has a quality that draws you in. Percussion and drum
slices dot around brooding textures before dropping into a tight relentless
groove, packed full of weighty bass, tense atmospheres and hypnotising
percussion. Lovely stuff. Sabotage Showing his versatilely Reactiv sets a
completely different tone on the flipside with "Sabotage". A much
more moody affair with a cold industrial feel and rolling rattling breakbeats.
This track packs quite a punch as well as displaying Reactiv's amazing ability
with drum programming, effects and texture.

Nphonix : Third Eye / False Flag : Lost Soul Recordings :
12"
Nphonix is celebrated as a paragon of stylistic
diversity, constant progression and engineering craftsmanship amongst producers
and listeners alike, with a sound and discography spanning everything from drum
'n bass to hard techno. His latest release on the prestigious Lost Soul imprint
is no exception to this standard. The A-side, 'Third Eye', descends like the
bellow of some unfathomable machine coming to life, as frenetic techno stabs
ride a ferocious shockwave of bass driven by bristling percussion. The flip,
'False Flag,' beckons with signature lushness and beautiful harmonies before
propelling the listener back into a maelstrom of speaker destroying furor, with
a stunning second drop sure to blow minds and rattle ribcages. Both pieces are
tied together with the gritty yet crystalline production quality fans have come
to expect from this stalwart innovator. This record is a testament to an
artist's uncompromising vision and a label's reputation for impeccable taste. a

Fresh BC : Future Jungle EP : Ram Records : 2x12"
Fresh puts his own distinctive mark on Drum
& Bass to deliver an EP full of
Old Skool vibes with an upfront sound. Already gaining full support from all the heavy weights in Drum & Bass
and Dub Step alike, including Andy C,
Hype, Chase & Status, Friction, Marky, Mistajam, Bailey and many
many more, these 4 tracks command your
attention. * The Gatekeeper kicks off the EP with a mix of heavy, rolling beats and bass that
instantly transports you to the
yesteryear era of jungle. Ice Cream follows perfectly, mixing retro,
replayed classic riffs, and drum beats
with a futuristic sound, taking you on a pure
underground, old skool journey. Arkanoid maintains this vibe,
incorporating elctro bleeps and techno
hooks to once again create a revamped, familiar sound. Last but by no means least is Mission to
Mars, which has already gained a
massive underground following due to it's inclusion on Andy C's
Nightlife 5 project. * Fresh has gone
back to his roots, and potentially spawned a new sub genre. By stamping his mark on Drum
& Bass, Fresh gives jungle a modern
twist, to produce a dark, atmospheric EP of epic proportion. *

The founding father of the Hospital imprint and
mouthpiece of the multi-award winning, chart topping Hospital podcast, London
Elektricity is a name that should need no introduction. Since starting the
label in 1996, Tony Colman has carved out a fearsome reputation as one of the

DC Breaks : The More I Want ft. Rox / Take That : Ram :
12"
DC Breaks are one of the new set of signings to
Ram Records. With releases on sister label Frequency Recordings, which included
the stunning Pickett Line, their exclusive signing to Ram comes as no surprise.
Already gaining support from Andy C, Annie Mac, Bailey, Mistajam, and all the
heavy weights in Drum & Bass, this debut 12 reinforces their rightful place
amongst the most highly regarded drum & bass producers in the scene. 'The More
I Want' showcases DC Breaks superb production skills to the max. The addictive,
deep bassline combines with the melodic percussion and strings to produce a
track that takes you on a euphoric journey. Featuring the beautiful vocal of
Rox this track is a classic in the making. On the flip 'Take That' lulls you
into a false sense of security. Starting with a delicate, atmospheric intro
this track twists and turns into a monster of distorted bass and heavy beats
which is destined for rewinds across the globe. Quite simply, this track
delivers exactly what it says in the intro 'yeah we're going to get nasty' . / DnB / Added: 3/31/2011

DJ Marky & Makoto / S.P.Y. : Secret Place (Random
Movement Remix) / Days Go Slow (Makoto Remix) : Innerground : 12"
Looking back over the Innerground catalogue,
it's fair to say we've had some absolute belters. But sometimes, as with a
favourite flavour of ice cream, one bite often isn't enough. That's why
Innerground brings forth to the masses, the remix single that everyone's been
waiting for. Filling the A-Side of this special release is Random Movement's
take on a DJ Marky & Makoto classic, "SECRET PLACE". Our American
cousin really does give it the full beans on this remix as the more melodic and
tuneful side of Random Movement that everybody loves comes to the fore. The
B-Side is Makoto's stunning reversion of "Days Go Slow", by DJ Marky
& S.P.Y. Makoto makes good use fo the vocals, courtesy of Miri, and still
manages to stay true to the original and give it a certain Makoto je ne sais

Spinline : Short Cut / Encounters : SGN:Ltd : 12"
Since their last killer release on Sgn:Ltd
almost a year ago the Spinline snowball has gradually been getting bigger and
bigger, earning them props and interest from across the scene including Ram
Records. Now they return with another scorching release on the baby brother
imprint of Shogun Audio. 'Short Cut' is a very cool and original take on the
glitch, minimal sound that has infused into drum and bass in recent years. Here
though they take it up a gear and roll it into a tech- stepping, bouncer of a
tune that has seen heads nodding in unison down at the already infamous Shogun
sessions at Cable in London. It's infectious stuff, believe! Next up
'Encounters' opens with ethereal vocal chants and a creeping, crazy bassline
that works into the mix. Come the drop and it's time to quick march as the
warping bass pulls us in along with some snappy breaks and FX to keep things
moving for a very vivid and unique slice of Spinline D&B life. / DnB / Added: 3/24/2011

After the enduring success of 'Rave Digger',
Danny Byrd brings you the third single off his critically acclaimed LP. It's
been a manic few months for Hospital's heavy hitter, with a packed release
schedule, two A-List hits on Radio One and a well deserved break into the Top

artists stamp their trademark sound on 'Tonight' with their rolling groove,
vocal chop-ups, arpeggiated electro stabs and powerful bassline. Another
rave-tastic hands-in-the-air anthem from Mr. Byrd is given a new lease of life
in 2011. Guaranteed to move dancefloors up and down the country. On the flip
Byrd gives 'Judgement Day' the remix treatment featuring the vocal talent of
I-Kay who you will no doubt remember from Top 40 smash, 'Ill Behaviour'. The
bouncy triplets, fierce bassline and catchy vocals exude an incredible energy
that will cause a riot. Twisting up the original album version - a

dBridge / Instra:mental : Wonder Where / No Future : Nonplus
Records : 12"
After arriving back on the scene in 2006
Instra:mental have fast gained a reputation for re-sharpening the cutting edge
approach to making music. Taking influence from their love of electronica and
incorporating it into a fresh and unorthodox style, they have managed to create
a distinctive and inspiring sound. In 2009 they have decided to start their own
label in order to give them afocused outlet for their music, and also the music
of other artists who they feel are on the same path. Quality, longevity,
freedom of expression and nonconformity are some of the ideologies behind their
new label, Nonplus+ Records. a) dBridge 'Wonder Where': 'Wonder Where' by
dBridge is a fine example of how the label means to continue. dBridge is hot
off the back of his debut solo album"The Gemini Principle" in which
he first gave us glimpses of a talent which he shares with his brother Steve
Spacek as a vocalist. Since then he has been busy continuing to lay the
foundations of his own respected imprint Exit Records. If his voice sounds
familiar ,perhaps you have heard the track "These Words" on which he
featured on Martyn's highly regarded debut album "Great
Lengths".Wonder Where is quite unique in the way it is regularly getting
played in the sets of DJs from many genres. Drum n bass dj's such as Marcus
Intalex, to soulfull house Dj's like Benji B, and also Dubstep pioneer DJ
Skream has regularly been finishing his sets with it. Dubstep legend Burial has
also seen fit to include it in his upcoming DJ Kicks mix. This track is fast
becoming an anthem amongmany different genres and is sure to be featured in
many a dj's sets for many years to come. aa) Instra:mental 'No Future':
Instra:mental have chosen their own track "No Future" which is ironic
considering they obviously have a very big future ahead ofthem. Already
licensed to the highly acclaimed Commix Fabriclive.44 this track (and most of
their music) manages to resurrect theghost of early electronic music with the
essence of artists such as Model 500 and the legendary Detroit techno movement
of the 80sand early 90s. Using original hardware drum machines and synthesizers
to create the analogue warmth and groove which wassynonymous of those times,
they bring elements back to the music which have been somewhat lacking in
recent years and laced itwith all the benefits of modern music making
advancements. This track will be loved and cherished by those who appreciate
goodmusic and will play just as well in the comfort of your own home as it
would in a packed out dance floor. For more information go to www.nonplusrecords.com A dBridge -

debruit : Sis Su?rpriz EP (inc 3-D artwork and 3-D glasses) :
Civil : 12"
When French producer debruit relocated to
London, it was just the start of a journey that would take him much further
east than Hackney. dEbruit explains;
"I lived in a Turkish neighbourhood in London and my productions are
always a result of curiosity over the
sounds and people around me. I wanted to learn more and try something
with Turkish music and instruments so I travelled to Turkey in October, and I'm so glad I did." The
end results of debruit's travels are the four painstakingly crafted tracks of
?i? Su?rpriz (which translates as Skewer
Surprise). Traditional Turkish folk instruments are coupled with modern,
synthetic sounds on an EP that's full of
eastern promise. Opener Accorde Don combines accordion and darbuka drums
(a kind of goblet drum) with "bump-hop" beats, whilst Turkish Ish features zurna flutes,
talkbox effects and scything synths. Mezde's bassheavy, low-slung bounce
deploys the string sounds of the kabak
kemane - a violin-like instrument originating from Southeastern Turkey - with
darbuka and davul drums. Zurna flutes
and synths return on the slo-mo, chopped and screwed digi-funk of Lil Zurna.
Born Xavier Thomas and raised in Brittany,
France, debruit's name is an amalgamation of the French words debris
(broken glass) and bruit (noise). His boundary-smashing, genreswerving style deliberately veers
towards the chaotic - "I like when electronic music and instruments lose
control of what they're meant to
do", he adds. ?i? Su?rpriz is the third in debruit's trilogy of EPs which
began with futuristic electro hip-hop workout
Let's Post Funk featuring Jamie Woon and Om'Mas Keith, and was followed
by 2010's African highlife inspired Spatio Temporel. The trio of releases all feature 3-D artwork by
German designer Rainbowmonkey, and 3-D glasses are also included for your
viewing pleasure. debruit is currently crafting a debut album
based around trips to West Africa and recordings with the region's indigenous
musicians and traditional instruments.
debruit has also been honing his live show which now incorporates a three-piece
band, thumb pianos, African drums,
highlife guitar, talk box and more, all accompanied by live visuals from
Rainbowmonkey. The new and improved live
experience will be unveiled at the dates below and debruit's album is
due out later this year. / Dubstep

Jakes : Hench Mixtape Vol2. Sampler 2 : HENCH : 12"
it's been an interesting few years for the one
called Jakes. From being one of the highest-regarded MC's in the drum and bass
world, he took his hand to producing.
After creating some of Bristol's earliest and most seminal Dubstep tracks, such
as 'Modem' and '3Kout', his studio
skills and style became further embossed. In early 2010 his tracks, 'Rhythm'
and 'Skanners' spearheaded the
productive assault that was the HENCH Mixtape Vol. 1. For the next
installment of the HENCH mixture, Jakes steps up with a double dose of his signature production style.
Fasten all loose furniture to the floor and turn up the sub... A. THE DALEK - A
familiar sound bite used in a less
ordinary surroundings. Papa 'Ench lures you in, then steps it up with chopping,
high-tempo bass rhythm. Wait for the
lead-synth to come in, creating an evil backdrop to the hollow steps 'The
Dalek' lays down. This is the perfect tune to drop on an unexacting crowd - when that sinister
baseline drops, they'll be baying for the rewind again and again. AA. GOLD
CHAIN - After a distinctive cameo on
HENCH Mixtape Vol. 1, Gold Chain's reputation precedes its release. Having also
just been remixed by D*Style bosses,
D*Minds, this production has been responsible for rumbling subs at dances
across the country. In suitably Jakes fashion,
Gold Chain enters with a hip-hop step to it. Layered vocal and lurching
kick-snare leads to a driving and pulsing bassline. The outcome is a typically moody and distinctive
roller from the HENCH. These tracks both feature on the HENCH Mixtape Vol. 2
(soon to be released). The Mixtape
features unreleased tracks from the likes of Jakes, D*Minds, Mensah, Eddie K
& Minus, Lost, Komonazmuk, Chasing
Shadows and many more. Also including a full mix by Jakes, / Dubstep / Added: 5/20/2011

Lowtec : Wonderkidd / Looser : Nonplus Records : 12"
The ball is certainly rolling in 2011 and next
up is a treat from Germanys Lowtec. Founder of highly respected label Workshop
he makes his UK label debut on Nonplus
Records with two fresh cuts of analogue goodness. a) Lowtec 'Wonderkidd' 'Wonderkidd' greets us
with a vocal sample that morphs keys with a low-fi piano chord before the discordant groove of the main riff comes into
effect. Analogue synths dance around the deep chord groove with early
detroitisms flexing between a repeating
bleeped out pattern. Hypnotic key stabs sink you deeper into the tune that
shows us why Lowtec is one of Berlin's
top underground button pushers. aa)
Lowtec 'Looser' The warm hiss of anaolgue beats starts off the excellent AA
tune 'Looser'. Dabs of a.m radio vocals progress the tune amongst a myriad of discreet
electronic bleeps that escalate and scatter around the rhythm. Coarsely sampled
'Shakir-like' string chords provide the
main sequence to set off this excellent tune. One for the deeper heads out
there. / Bass Music / Added: 5/20/2011

Boddika : You Tell Me / Breezin : Nonplus Records : 12"
Nonplus+ label owners Instra:mental have been
working away on solo projects in 2011 with Al Bleek working under his Boddika
alias and Kid Drama as Jon Convex. Here
we have Boddika's first output on Nonplus+ after his debut on Naked Lunch in
2010 and prior to his forthcoming EP on
Swamp 81. His work has been supported by DJs across the board such as Benji B,
Oneman, Scuba, Shy FX, Martyn,
Ramadanman, Joy Orbison, Leofah, Skream and Zed Bias amongst many others. a) Boddika 'You Tell Me' 'You Tell Me' takes
us back to the 80s with its electro tinged thumping drums and freaky synths.
What at first seems to be a pretty
straightforward track slowly mutates into an ugly beast with its pitch bent
lead and warping drum grooves that slowly
swing so far out and eventually re-sync with each significant transition. Not
for the seasick. aa) Boddika 'Breezin'
On the flip Boddika provides another striped back dancefloor warmer but here he
comes with a 4x4 drum pattern. With very
few elements he exploits them all to their limits and the track moves with an
everchanging undercurrent of acid bass
coated with subtle synth melodies that work their way around the bass in a
mesmerizing arrangement. Another example of
Boddika's talent for working sound to maximum effect and keeping it
simple but effective. / Dubstep /

Triage and The Bassist have been on the scene

clearly know their way round a synth and as soon as the needle touches the deck

Downlink : Biohazard / Zombie Apocolypse : Rottun Recordings
: 12"
Downlink has been punishing dancefloors all over
the planet with his heavy brand of dubstep. With roots in Jungle & DnB, he
is no stranger to the vile side of subsonic dance music. Growing up in a cold
industrial town in British Columbia, Canada, he was first introduced to dubstep
in 2007 and soon after took to production. While maintaining an appreciation
for the sparse and laid-back vibes of the old school, Downlink set out to
explore a more frantic, adrenaline fuelled style, influenced by everything from
heavy metal to astrophysics. His first two releases charted at #1 on several
popular online music stores and soon he found his way onto Rottun Recordings
which seemed a suiting place for his music. While consistently coming up with
sick material time after time, he has gained DJ support from the likes of Nero,
Excision, Datsik, Rusko, Dieselboy, Crookers and many more. Downlink is not one
to be pigeonholed and is constantly on a quest to evolve and refine his sound.

Milyoo : Kazaduon EP : Saigon Recordings : 12"
Limited Edition vinyl pressing - With support
from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Angel Molina, Karl Moestl, Bunzer0, Rob Booth, The Black Dog, James Mountain and
more.... "Kentucky seems an
unlikely place for bass music producers to be based, but with modern technology
being what it is, geographical
boundaries in music continue their slide into relative
obsolescence. Having had his debut
release featured in Boomkat's top 100 singles of 2010, Milyoo has already been
endorsed by Gilles Peterson and Mary Ann
Hobbes, and judging by the quality of his latest work, the Kazaduon EP on
Saigon, such hype is certainly justified.
The title track is a melancholic yet strangely hopeful array of pop
vocal samples, tearjerking keys and punchy drums. It's slightly cheesy but enchantingly peculiar and one
can't help but be moved by the sheer amount of emotive musicality present. This musicality is led by the hand into more
obscure territories in 'Takedown', with its broken beats, chordal pads, and
simple melodies creating an ethereal
soundscape punctuated by clever yet soulful drumwork. In the great tradition of keeping the truly
weird stuff for the flip, the first b-side, 'Box of Tapes' unleashes an aural
assault of acid infused dissociative
chaos, which hangs on for dear life to a solid rhythm and chord motif. It's
delightfully disorganised and will have
many listeners subconsciously calling for the outlawing of strict
quantization to ensure music of this style is made more often. Closing track 'Phonix' is a little more restrained
in its entropic aesthetic, but still keeps the beats wonky enough to be able to
squeeze in some more 'normal' chord
progressions without approaching over-sentimentality. Whether the track stands
up on its own is perhaps up for debate,
but it is a fitting end to a bizzarely brilliant release". / Bass Music / Added: 5/20/2011

N Types label coms correct each and every time.
Budapest born but now Bristol based producer DJ Madd has carved himself a pretty unique trench within his
contemporaries over the space of a handful of singles - mainly released on the
Boka and Black Box imprints. Going in
just as hard as producers like Benga and Caspa, Madd - known to his parents as
Peter Simon - manages to retain a lot of
space and atmosphere in his productions, fleshing his tracks out with heavy
sine wave pulses rather than those mid range
frequencies that seem to get included expressly to make you lose your
shit on the dancefloor. Flirting with the funk in a similar way to someone like Joker, Madd has a great command
of aerated bass lines, tweaking the best force out of his low end and complimenting that speaker pressure with vibrancy and these
little flickers of synth colour that lodge themselves deep in your brain for

Dubtek : Fever : Vicious Audio : 12"
Kyle Schab, aka Dubtek, has been an instrumental
player in bringing the dubstep sound to the Seattle underground for the last
five years. As part of the Shift Crew,
Dubtek's been pushing the dubstep sound since the mid '00's, first as a
producer and later as a DJ. In each
role, he's seen critical and popular acclaim as his releases have been featured
on a host of cutting edge dubstep labels
including Shift Recordings, Trust in Music, Terminal Dusk, and Paradise
Lost and has had his tunes supported by a who's who of dubstep players including Triage, Droid
Sector, Matta, and Boot. In addition he's become a Seattle fan favorite with an
ear for the underground and a big bass
sound, as he's shared billing with a host of dubstep elite including N-Type,
Caspa, 12th Planet, Babylon System, and
SPL to name a few. On his inaugural release for Vicious Audio Dubtek stays true
to his roots, creating deep bass
soundscapes with a heavy sound while managing to stay intelligent and
away from anything that could be described as 'bro'. Fever plods along through the night, as light siren
stabs and ghostly ambience create a sense of space between the kick-snare
attacks and the beastly bass line. On

Lost Ft. Beezy : Snake Eyes / Escape From The Womb : HENCH :
12"
Lost has come a long way since he took the first
steps on his journey into music. As a 12-year old, Lost found 'Big Apple
Records' in Croydon and embarked upon becoming a DJ. Now a fully-fledged member
of H.E.N.C.H, this prodigy has been responsible for some of the most sub
shaking releases to have been let forth from the Bristol label's catalogue to
date. A: Snake Eyes (Ft. Beezy) - Lost teams up with Hench's new signing Beezy.
For those that know, you can bet that any track with Beezy's name on is going
to be sordidly sinister. And 'Snake Eyes' is no exception. The track commences
with an industrial and hazardous sounding scene that's soon met with Beezy's
catchy hook. Things are teed-up fittingly for a creeping baseline that weaves
amongst the dripping backdrop. Before the low-end truly takes you somewhere
else, Beezy rejoins with an ever-ominous lyrical gesture to seal the
dread-inducing vibe that Lost has created with this charismatic production. AA:
Escape from the Womb - In all of Lost's productions, he's enigmatic in creating
a feeling with his tracks from the get-go. What seems like a calm and
atmospheric intro quickly thrusts you toward something you'd be forgiven for
not expecting. When that highvoltage bass rhythm gets your attention, sit back,
you're in for the ride. Metallic overtones and pulsating groove make 'Escape
from the Womb' a genuinely progressive number. This was built to tear dance
floors to the ground and has already been doing some serious damage. a Lost Ft.

fusion of influences that results in a sound entirely his own, balancing light

musicality as well as an unrivalled talent for system shaking productions,
Antiserum is taking the scene by storm. Releases on Narco.Hz, S.C.U.M and Argon

he is joined by Ill-Esha on 'Zephyr', a sick g-funk inflected roller.
Skittering hi-hats and tough drums lay the foundations on this one, with the
deep, smooth bass sweeping underneath. The vibrant synths weave in and out of
each other with ease, swimming around the mix and swelling expansively through
the speakers. On the flip he teams up with 12th Planet on the massive 'Purple

down by a hard bassline and taut drums. The shimmering synths sliding over the
top of the percussion and off into the atmosphere give the track an epic

V/A : Back And 4th : Hotflush Recordings : 3x12"
Pressed on 180 Gram Vinyl in a gatefold sleeve.
With dubstep's big push into the mainstream, stirring up all manner of hybrids,
variants and mutations, it's worth remembering that some have been creating
fresh twists on the current generation of global bass music from its very
inception. Paul Rose, aka Scuba, and his Hotflush label have, since 2003, had
experimentation and genre-collision etched into the very structures of
everything they do. Putting out key tunes by the core pioneers of dubstep, but
also by true outliers like Mount Kimbie, Joy Orbison and Sepalcure, Hotflush
has created a sense of absolute consistence in diversity: multiple sounds
united by true craftsmanship and high-tech expression of complex emotion.
Joining the UK underground to the deep-rooted techno culture of Berlin, where
Rose is now resident, the label is a vital nexus in the flow of musical information
that is fuelling the current innovative climate. So next time you hear someone
talking about "post-" this or "future-" that, consider that
maybe the times are just catching up with Hotflush. BACK AND 4TH features ten
brand new tracks from bass music's most innovative producers, as well as a
collection of essentials from Hotflush's recent catalogue. The compilation is
presented in double-CD and digital download formats, as well as a triple

Two brand new tracks from Bristol's emergent

and a mournful vocal refrain together in a tightly packaged low drag

heads for the great outdoors with subtly staggered pads and an impossibly
delicate Lepidopteran melody basking in a 16:9 sunset. Exclusive to the digital
Grand National winds down with wistful synth trumpets and a rhythmic strut
perfectly aligned with the greatest roller disco ever. a Julio Bashmore - Batty

LOL : LOL Part 2 : Nonplus Records : 12"
lol is a bit of an unusual project, it's just a
thing in it's own right, it's not 'for' anything or anyone in particular, it's
just an LP made by three bored people who like music that sounds like it did
before the advent of the internet. The project was recorded in the bedroom of a
warehouse conversion in Hackney Wick (bedrooms can be incredibly creative
spaces, seeing as most of us were conceived in one) They wrote about
self-obsession, social anxiety, drug abuse, and failed relationships using
pre-21st century recording devices such as VHS tape, 70's valve microphones,
analogue synths, cheap Argos catalogue guitars, and 80's drum machines. The
resulting music was sent to a handful of people they thought were similarly
musically inclined; people deeply into producer culture who never rabidly stuck
to one way of doing things, in the hope that they might like it too. After a
few positive responses, it was decided to keep the project close to where it
was created and London based label Nonplus+ Records proudly put their name
behind it. The name was chosen after a text conversation about potential band
names - none of which sounded right - with the last suggestion being
"Polterchrist?" which was replied to with a simple "lol".
lol sounded neat so that was it. They liked the fact that it used to be an
abbreviation for 'lots of love' but now just means 'laughing out loud'. It
seemed to fit the cheap, cynical nature of what they'd written about... oh and
it looks a bit like a person with their hands in the air. / Bass Music / Added: 3/24/2011

Breakage feat Jess Mills : Fighting Fire EP : Digital
Soundboy : 12"
<P>Breakage aka James Boyle is perhaps the
most prodigious talent in the
fast-moving world of British dance music. And while 2010 has been a
classic 12 months for the scene, with
many exciting producers and artists coming through, it really has been James break-out year. His
remixes and solo material have amassed
a startling total of 5 Hottest Records In The World on Zane Lowe's Radio 1 show. Most notably his minimal and
gut-shuddering remix of Clare Macguire's
Ain't Nobody getting played 3 times in a row by the enthusiastic Kiwi.<BR> <BR>So it is
that Fighting Fire drops at a very exciting moment for James. After his slew of successful
remixes, his star is shining bright over
his South Bank studio, and he felt it was time to put out a piece of
100% Breakage material. And in true
Boyle style it's a track that doesn't allow
itself to be pinned down. Part trance, part progressive<BR>house,
part dub-step, itʼs a
track that deï¬ÂÂÂes categorization while remaining
resolutely Breakage in sound. Featuring
the enigmatic vocals of Jess Mills, it's the magic combination of James' punchy production and Jess
cinematic<BR>vocal performance which makes the track as powerful on your headphones as
it does in the club. Look out for
plenty more from these 2 throughout the year, as James is adding his production to her debut album for Island Records. An
exciting prospect indeed. Also check

[COMEME010]
V/A : Chilean Pop : Comeme : 12"
Having opened 2011 with the splendid debut by
young and talented Ana Helder from Rosario (Argentina), Comeme is back with its
third release this year and is as usual a display of unpindownable style that
demonstrates once again these musicians have a firm understanding of rhythms
and dancing and, most of all, want to communicate to very different people and
not just to a certain musical context. Chilean Pop is a true special Ep that
digs up Comeme'S connections in Santiago de Chile and sees some of the most
beloved artists of the label remixing a couple of bands from the current and
awfully exciting underground Chilean pop music scene, a real breeding ground of
young music talents at the moment. A side focuses on one of the weirdest and
most original bands to come out of Santiago's feverish underground music scene,
Fredi Michel, a fabulous band formed in 2002 that have only recorded a few
songs but have been playing for years, always accompanied by the hyper-pitched,
infant voice of Andrea Guerrero and distinguished by the brilliant music
sensibility of Diego Morales, one of Comeme's precious addiction from the very
beginning. Aguayo and Rossknecht (in their Broke guise) start off the Ep with
their remix of Enganami!, Fredi Michel's huge hit from 2005, and with their
usual mastery transform the original version, already a freaky psychedelic
house affair, in an even more amazing trip, something that just grow and grow
and grow like super horny sex in slow motion, no doubt a dj can voodoo a
dancefloor with it. Marinero 's remix of Diegors, digging up the voices and
Latin sound elements of the original version in combination with arrangements
and beats that are halfway disco music and Chicago house, is an instant Comeme
classic in pure Diegors lighthearted hybrid style. B side opens up with Diegors
and The Don (Matias Aguayo and Diego Morales' collaboration) remixing La Gata
Negra by $ 990, a pop band formed by Ana Norambuena and Pablo Mu / Added:

Housemeister [Boys Noize / Feadz] : Music Is Awesome : Boys
Noize : 12"
Come end of May, dancefloors will be overdosing
on awesome music. Legendary dirty man HOUSEMEISTER will blow out his third
mother-L fucking-P "Music is Awesome" for the wicked, and rave will
reign again. But you can't just stick your face out into this kind of quality
noize - it would mini-melt right off, see!? So Housemeister took instant classic
electro anthem title track "Music is Awesome" to some players and
friends and said "Look boys, I'm putting out a smaller dose upfront so
nobody will die on the dancefloor, now who's gonna help me save some
lives?" Everybody was in on this EP effort, of course. Siriusmo and
friends hooked up with illustration genius Gogoplata for the artwork (100%
hand-made!), rave rocket launcher Boys Noize himself sandblasted the track to
his image, Paris buddy Feadz (Ed Banger) redefined "playfulness" with
notes like stars in the sky and insane drum programming, true techno lover
Cosmin TRG (Monkeytown) reduced it to the max, and then Bonaparte came around
with a running nose and a live recording straight outta rehearsal room. A live
recording, that's right. A punk-ass, hard-core fest of drums, bass, guitar and
moog, with old-school crowd shouts 'n everything! This is so brutal, people are
gonna die! So beautiful, people are gonna die dancing! Housemeister was so
inspired he had to put his own chunk of rework on this bitch as well. So be
aware, you sick kids. If you really want to overdose on awesomeness, you have
been warned. Housemeisters "Music is Awesome" EP is out on Boysnoize

Some say he is the dark side of Ed Banger

he makes me a happy label boss. "Embody" is not the boring "banger"
you could expect from the man responsible for heavy weight club hits
"Smoking kills?" "Walkman" and "Ross Ross Ross"
Do I need to remind youI signed him for darker sounds like

Punk said he delivered the best remix they ever had for "Human after

Burnski : Sometimes Takes Longer : Dessous : 12"
James 'Burnski' Burnham is one of the UK's most
prolific and talented house producers.
Having already contributed a run of beautifully created records to the Dessous and Poker Flat catalogue,
it's time for his next elegantly
crafted EP - 'Sometimes Takes Longer' Title track 'Sometimes Takes
Longer' fuses casual, classic deep
house drums with a totally hypnotic synth theme, surrounded by liquid percussion, fantastic panning and
filtered spacial effects and story
telling elements. The track builds in the great tradition of true late
night, atmosphere setting deep house.
Looking to the B side, 'There's A Culprit'
swaggers along nicely with a post-chicago jack and a ballsy hook to
boot. Burnksi's characteristic clean
production and fine detailing set this tracky jam on fire, with its unique layered approach.
Finally the key-led house vibes of
'Watch Out' phase on to the scene. Pumping and energetic, it's also
another great story track, leading us
deep into the night with powerful syncopated
rhythms, heavy reverb swells and inventive moments in the
arrangement. Tracklisting: A1.

Finesquad & Gaffy [Varoslav & Yakine Remix] : Step 2 :
9am : 12"
GAFFY,an artist and keyboard player whose
passion for hardware and synthesizers
has lead to him creating some of the most exciting music set to come out of France over the coming months. As
a DJ, GAFFY has travelled Europe
playing some of the finest floors from Paris to Ibiza, London and
beyond.FINE SQUAD, a group of
professional musicians, DJ's and producers who represent the junction between electronic and acoustic
music. Its five members come from a
host of musical backgrounds, and their Jazz, Funk, Afro, House and
Techno influences can all be heard in
their music. Whether its DJ'ing of playing live, the FINE SQUAD always deliver a sensational
and refreshing musical landscape. Its
FINE SQUAD who kick us off today with "Step 2." As with all 9AM
releases the we are treated to a
perfect soundclash of cheeky samples and live instruments, forged together with some of the slickest
production work. This little beauty is
hotsteppin' it from the off with its silky Rhodes melody and killer
bassline. The Wah Wah leads us to the
beautiful trademark FINE SQUAD break and we're
floating, before the bass and beat drop again. GAFFY steps up on the
flip with the incredible "Last Call."
This feisty little number plays heavily on its
sweaty bass and oldschool drum patterns. Its panty-wetting vocal,
twisted guitar licks and crisp piano
chords will have the floor heaving and grooving as one. Rounding out the release is a remix of "Step
2" from the Parisian dream team of
Varoslav & Yakine. The pair lock the original into a deep,
sweaty and ever so slutty groove. Turn
the heat up and the lights out! / House</p>

5 : Off Spin : 12"
OFF SPIN 007 includes a track by Timo Garcia,
wellknown from legendary labels Nervous and Yoshitoshi. 'Inches' starts with a
techy rhythm strengthened by an euphoric pad and a sleaaaazy vocal. Nils
Weimann & Clay Porter let the summer start a bit earlier. 'La Guitarra' has
a summery vibe but is driven by a techy-percussion-ish beat. This track will
definitely make hips swing on the dancefloor. 'This Is My Home' gives you a
warm deephouse-feeling with an organic groove. A lovely track which brings a
smile on your face and makes you feel home immediately. Mario Aureo &

The next release on Claap is a joint venture
between two label favourites. On side A, Nikola Gala's "Oasy" and
"Paradise (tool)" are two very tightly structured affairs! Perfectly
produced and oh so functional, they are another strong proof of the reasons for
which Nikola has been making waves in the scene for more than a decade. The
overall feel in both tracks follows the same path along Nikola's previous work
on Rekids and Ibadan records, amongst others, along with releases on his own
label Escada music. We are also very glad to welcome a long time favourite John
Dimas. Hailing from the beautiful city of Thessaloniki in Greece, John is a
young and aspiring dj and producer who has been working with labels such as
D'Julz's exciting Bass Culture. John has been steadily making a strong
impression with his colourful, solid and passionate dj performances! "Get
It" is a very groovy, playful and smart track. Reminiscent of older
chicago house with a fresh touch. To round up the package, label head GummiHz
offers two remixes on "Get It". A disco orientated "Get Down mix",
and a digtal only "Beat Mix" which tests the limits of elasticity!

[COLOUR002]
Orange Muse [Kenny Dope] : Bump : Colourful : 12"
Second installment on Colourful has Tobias
Linden, Orange Muse returning with some serious summer heat. The terrace mix
with it's euphoric piano hook and vocal chants against a funky backdrop will be
perfect for those late decadent summer nights. The basement mix is an
altogether different affair, stripping all the elements, featuring a raw synth
hook to build the tension. Bouncy with prominent percussion this mix still
carries the uplifting, spiritual feel of the terrace mix. Stepping up to remix
is none other than the beats maestro himself, Mr. Kenny Dope. Drawing on the
past, adding a splash of new, Kenny comes really fresh on this one. Raw, dry
beats, deep bass drops and a sax hook to match the vox snippets - this is one
piece of fierce floor action! Add to that an instrumental and the colorful year

Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 : From Africa With Fury: Rise :
Because : 2x12"
With the mighty new From Africa With Fury: Rise,
Seun Anikulapo Kuti picks up the mantle as undisputed champion and true prince
of the Afrobeat movement, heading up Egypt 80, the extraordinary combo first
fronted by his renowned father. The album follows Kuti's critically praised
debut, 2008's Many Things, which was unanimously hailed for continuing Fela's
musical legacy. From Africa With Fury: Rise sees Kuti finding his own
idiosyncratic voice as songwriter, singer, and band leader, its songs and sonic
approach marked by provocative edge and mature self-assurance. Produced by
Brian Eno, John Reynolds, and Kuti, with additional production by Godwin Logie,
and mixed by John Reynolds and Tim Oliver, the album captures Seun and Egypt
80's extraordinary power, fraught with the scorching rhythms and kinetic funk
energy that has earned the band - as ever, under the leadership of alto saxophonist
Lekan Animashaun - worldwide acclaim as one of today's most incendiary live
acts. With Kuti's booming vocal stylings at the forefront, songs like
"African Soldiers" and "Mr. Big Thief" are fueled by
call-and-response hooks, breakneck tempos, and combative, topical lyricism
which firmly sets the classic Egypt 80 sound in the modern era. Kuti is equally
effusive about his co-producers, reminding "Brian Eno is
‘Brian Eno' for a reason. He has a great mind when it comes to
music. He adds new dimensions to the sound. He showed me new ways of opening up
the sound I'd never have thought of on my own. Not to downplay the work of John
Reynolds, who is an incredible producer. I'm really glad I had them work on the
album." Eno, Reynolds, and Kuti sought tension and release in the Rio
recordings, incorporating breathing room and sonic space into the intricate
rhythms and melodies. / Jazz / World

Ovum, Shlomi Aber returns on Be As One with an original work after a long

"Sketches" alongsie Detroit piooneer Kenny Larkin. Now he does it
again with a bang, involving in the project the legendary house stalwart Dj
Sneak, whose been quite busy in the latest years unceedingly preaching the house

trademark, heavy dark funk bass and snares, all looped up with a consinstent
drive and shaky groove. Dj Sneak does his thing on the b side, stomping his

Connan Mockasin : Forever Dolphin Love EP : Because :
12"
Connan Mockasin has the kind of deliciously
off-kilter and gloriously idiosyncratic worldview that rapidly proves
addictive. Once you've heard it, you can't help but wish to go back for more.
Welcome, folks, to the delightful, slanted and enchanted world of Connan
Mockasin. Like David Lynch's wilfully surrealist take on American suburbia, or
Richard Prince's paintings investigating modern cultural tropes, the New
Zealand born, current London resident Mockasin makes beautiful, off-kilter
music which subverts as it compels, challenges as it mesmerists, startles as it
seduces, even drawing fans as diverse as Johnny Marr and Radiohead to Ed Banger
chief and ex Daft Punk manager Pedro Winter into its wide-eyed, childlike
exploration into the final frontiers of pop music. It is all too rare, in this
current climate of manufactured pop acts, grey over produced 'alternative'
guitar music and press-fuelled mania for the next-big-thing, to hear something
truly striking and original, but a strong case can most certainly be made for
Connan to be a true pop auteur, taking his rightful place in a proud lineage
which includes past mavericks such as Joe Meek and Brian Wilson, right through
to current cult heroes like Ariel Pink, Sufjan Stevens and John Maus. It was
this brilliantly ingenious approach to invention, and his masterfully unique
charm that caught the attention of Erol Alkan, who signed Connan to his label
Phantasy after hearing initial demos for the record. Connan has become the
first artist to release a full album through Alkan's Phantasy, a perfect home
for an artist who will undoubtedly evolve and reincarnate (and possibly
re-invent?) over time. / Indie /

Marco Bernardi : Broken Silences (feat Keith Tucker) : Royal
Oak : 12"+mp3
Intense, deep, raw and dirty tracks by Marco
Bernardi. His first release on Clone records in a while and what a record! Two
tracks build around unpolished rhythms and open beginning that don't reveal
immediately where its going. Quiet unpredictable is the a-side that slowly
opens up with a sultry string and then completely bursts open with a shiny
melody that is in beautiful contrast with the raw percussion. Broken Silence is
another deep track founded on a basic rhythm and metallic Detroit bass line.
Topped with spoken words (by Keith Tucker from AUX88) and bleepy melodies,
underlaid with a deeper sexy bassline. A track rooted in the best traditions of
techno... we've played this one over and over! Machine Music by Men! / House / Added: 12/2/2010

[HIVERN10]
Teengirl Fantasy [J. Talabot / Beautiful Swimmers] : Cheaters
: Hivern : 12"
When Delorean toured with Teengirl Fantasy last
spring they told us about a song that had really blown them away. When they
shared it with us we understood why. It was called "Cheaters" and
sounded like an instant classic. Very different to the trademark psychedelic
jams of the duo, the song was homage to classic Chicago House from a modern
perspective. Built around layers of blissful synths and borrowing the vocals of
First Committee's "Cheaters Never Win", it had that kind of energy
that we sometimes miss in contemporary dance music. Later that summer, John
Talabot visited New York and became aware that the track was going to be
released by True Panther Sounds only as part of the album "7AM".
Something sparked inside us. We felt it was not fair that such an incredible
track had to share it's vinyl's grooves with other songs so we thought it would
be nice to dedicate a full maxi side to it. After all, aren't the song's roots
are found in dance music? So we immediately talked to True Panther to explain
our idea and they quickly agreed to have us released it as a 12" single.
Now, some months later, the track has gained an incredible reception both
between the public and the press, even being named "song of the year"
by FACT Magazine. Maybe it is because of its free and honest approach... with a
DIY spirit that keeps it miles away from the thou- sands of technical-obsessed
soulless tracks that we suffer day after day...or maybe it's simply a glorious
song. In any case, it's been proven "Cheaters" is a special song,
it's finally time to give it a special release. It's gonna come in a limited
edition 12" vinyl, with remixes by Mary- land's finest Beautiful Swimmers
and our John Talabot, to whom we already thank for accept- ing he arduous task
of remixing a perfect track. Max D and Ari G deliver one of ther unique grooves
to transform "Cheaters" into a ridicusiosly smooth jam, full of odd
vocal samples, floaty melodies and sharp beats. John Talabot gives it a classic
vocal treatment through which the song becomes a dancefloor weapon, fueled by
one of his distinc- tive raw beats and matched with timeless sounding key
chords. We would also like to thank Dean and everyone at True Panther, and
Merok for giving us the chance to release such an amazing song. We are
incredibly excited and proud. We just hope you share the feeling. / Tech-House / Indie / Nu-Disco / Added:

Laid Back vs Soul Clap : Cocaine Cool : Brother Music :
12"
Danish duo Laid Back made a most surprising
comeback to the clubs in 2010 with "Cocaine cool". Not that they had
ever been really forgotten: Their electro pop classic "white horse"
remained a sure shot in clubs for the thirty years after it's release 30 years
back and a constant inspiration to boatload of diverse artists from techno to
hip-hop. "cocaine cool" was recorded at the same session but the
ironic vocals ridiculing label executives blowing up their frail ego with the
chemical substance were deemed to risquee at that time, so the recording
collected dust in some box until last year. Bostons "Soul Clap"
another duo hailed as one of the hotest things in clubland known for their
eclectic funk-rooted taste. They opt for a cool sparser arrangement leaving out
the "white horse"-like chords. A loose, dry electro funk beat,
hpynotic one-note synth, few dub effects and additional vocoder vocals do the
trick bravorously. Besides an instrumental version there's also a harder jacking
dub take sounding like early chicago house edits. And while the boys are add it
they also re-edited another huge one from Laid Back: "baker man" that
managed the unlikely balancing act of not only hitting it bigtime in the charts
but also in the emerging balearic scene. this 12? is cool in every which way!

Cosmic Kids [Juan Maclean / Bicep / Classixx] : Reginald's
Groove : Throne Of Blood : 12"
Cosmic Kids Ron Poznansky and Dan Terndrup
didn't meet in outer space as their DJ moniker may indicate, but the story is
still equally as good. The two met in a high school classroom meant for kids
who had trouble paying attention. They bonded over their love of classic rock.
Right out of high school they both volunteered to work at the Los Angeles radio
station KCRW. Known for its eclectic programming, the station exposed the
friends to all different kinds of music, and they began collecting and
consuming records, feeding their ever-expanding appetite for music. Frequenting
warehouse after parties, they were inspired by the idea of sharing good music
and seeing people really responding to a certain song or beat. As they grew
their record collection, Poznansky and Terndrup felt they had something to
contribute, and DJ'd their first party in 2006 with Rapture and DJ AM.
ÊSince that inaugural
gig, they've DJ'd alongside LCD Soundsystem, Holy Ghost!, Juan Maclean,
Dâm Funk, Crystal Castles, Digitalism, The Rapture, Harvey,
Little Boots, Classixx, and many more. While cultivating a reputation as one of
LA's most exciting DJ duos at parties like the legendary Do-Over and Dam Funk's
Funkmophere, Cosmic Kids started working in the studio, completing remixes for
friends like Harvard Bass. But it was their first original tune that landed
them on Throne of Blood, backed by absolutely tremendous remixes from dear friends
Juan Maclean, Classixx and labelmates Bicep. / Nu-Disco / Added: 4/7/2011

Efdemin / Sven Weisemann : Lohn & Brot : Liebe Detail :
12"
Here's the 3rd round of liebe*detail's hand
picked re-release series. This time we combined two very special tracks from
outstanding artists Efdemin and Sven Weisemann together on a strictly limited
12?. Both tracks haven't been available for more than 3 years on vinyl now. So
here you are - get your copy as long as you can! strictly limited edition of
500 hand-stamped copies! efdemin - lohn & brot (originally released 2006 on
cat.-no. LIEBE014) After Phillip Sollmann aka Efdemin has finished his studies
at the Institute For Computer music in Vienna, he moved to Berlin, where he has
found a lot of opportunities to engage himself intensively with Techno and
House again. His track "Bergwein" on Dial and his work as Pigon on
Just together with Oliver Kargl are an impressive evidence of the rekindled
love affair with this music. Where Efdemin's earlier production work was rather
focused on slow, abstract house in the vein of Theo Parrish, he has now turned
to a more functional approach without losing his special sense for deepness.
Efdemin's sound design has become a lot more unobscured and differentiated. And
he knows how to adjust old school influences to contemporary listening habits,
which makes "Lohn & Brot" the sublime hit one could only expect
from Efdemin. sven weisemann - slices (originally released 2006 on cat.-no.
LIEBE012) liebe*detail is welcoming yet another producer to its family. Berlin
based Sven Weisemann is adding a musical flavour to the label's pie, which
hasn't been featured here in such a pure form before: Deephouse. He has been
releasing on Mojuba and Styrax so far; two german labels tastily purveying
Detroit's deep and spiritual heritage. /

Abivalent & Alexi Delano
: Brooklyn Weekdays : Minus : 12"
Kevin McHugh, the producer & DJ commonly
known as Ambivalent, follows up his 2010 EPs Rumors and Down with the release
in April 2011 of Brooklyn Weekdays - five new tracks born out of a
collaboration with Alexi Delano, the Swedish-born producer and resident of
McHugh's old New York stomping ground, who featured on Paco Osuna's most recent
Plus8 EP Amigos late last year and will be making his Minus debut with this
release. The result of what started out as something resembling a game of
musical Consequences beginning in summer 2009, Brooklyn Weekdays was conceived
mostly in Delano's New York studio as the two producers swapped loops and parts
from works in progress that the duo had been working on individually. With
McHugh making regular trips from his current Berlin base to his former
hometown, it became a common for the pair to schedule a couple of days to work
together in Delano's Brooklyn studio in between weekend gigs - hence the EP
title - bringing eachother pieces that could use a new perspective in order to
develop into finished productions. With a shared enthusiasm for a broad range
of electronic music, the process developed into a natural intuition for where
to take the tracks: "The ideas I had that couldn't get fixed would benefit
from working on his system, and the things that Alexi's system couldn't fix I
would take home and come back with some new ideas. Two months would go by
before I came back to New York - we'd go back to the last track we'd made and
soon be remixing our remixes of an old track that never went anywhere!"
The resulting five tracks bear out the benefits of that collaborative process,
with the EP traversing a range of styles from the warmer house sounds of Last
Track and Perfect Zed to the more sinister techno grooves of Zoo Trip and
Lights Down. Just as with a game of Consequences, the finished product takes
unexpected creative turns that are likely to surprise as much as entertain. / Minimal / Tech-House / Added: 5/20/2011

Soundstore / Steffi / Hunee : Panorama Bar 03 : Ostgut Ton :
12"
Compiled and mixed by Prosumer whose own
productions worship the big old lady that is house music time and time again,
the 12-Inch sampler for "Panorama Bar 03" could have hardly been
better. Hitherto unreleased, the tree tracks on Ostgut Ton 47 tick all the
boxes that make Prosumer such a unique DJ: house in its various identities.
Soundstore starts the triptych with "Take U". Greatness and frantic
fever visions go hand in hand while hitting the core of Chicago's second wave:
Dance Mania, Cajual, and Relief with siren-like hooks in a feverish delirium.
Irresistible. Prosumer's Panorama Bar fellow Steffi slows down the pace.
"Sadness" that surprisingly did not make it on her album debut is not
only the opener of the actual Panorama Bar mix, but also a tribute to that kind
of "deep house" that doesn't take its prefix lightly. In the end,
Berlin's Hunee teaches you a freestyle lesson. In a similar way to the young
Pal Joey, he feeds his sampler a well-known dish, but throws in peculiarity,
rascality and deviation to get new results. After all the time, this music is
still not getting a bit long in the tooth. Let's take a love break! / Techno / Indie / Tech-House / Added:

Jin Choi & Walker Barnard [Tolga Fidan] : I Am Just The
Rain : Private Gold : 12"
With age comes maturity, or that is at least
what one would normaly think. Together the three men (Jin Choi, Walker Barnard
& Tolga Fidan) associated with Private Gold's second release, the "I'm
Just the Rain" EP, clock in at over 100 years... and yet this release is
all thrusting crotches and wriggling teen lust man-booties. Only kidding, the
songs on this release are nothing if not mature. Sure the aforementioned sex is
there. In the cooing vocals, stompy bass and 60s psych of the contrapuntal
guitar of the eponymous I'm Just The Rain or in the Jimmy Edgar-like funk and
grind of Revolution For The Lovers. But what you notice after a few listens is,
that these great dancefloor tracks are well thought out, that every little
sound or slap, every tiny swish or sample is lovingly placed there. As if you
could imagine that the studio is a leather upholstered room, where the men
discussed Foucault and sipped a lovely sherry (a favorite of Jin Choi's).
Tolga's Remix does exactly what it should, bringing the originals drive up into
the 21st century. All squishy percussion and layered vocals, it will satisfy
those looking for something more obviously cerebral, while still wanting people
to move. The arrangement also recalls 80s pop songs, seeming to give it a
subconscious verse/chorus/verse and longing romantic feel. Private Gold brings
another unique and special baby into the world with the "I'm Just The Rain
EP", and it's bound to be a hit. / Tech-House
